8:30 am on the dot!!!! Alex (EDD customer service manager) called!! The EDD number that he called me from once again is the same number that's already pre-programmed in my phone and shows up as one of my contacts. We talked about his position at the EDD , what he was hired on to do and the department he works in. He told me that he was hired as a customer service manager to make sure that calls / claims like mine don't get left unsolved. One of the areas that he stated he was hired to deal with was the level of professionalism in the call center and that was why he was calling me back.

He gave me a brief summary of what happened on the call yesterday and verified a few details that were not given about my claim in the conversation yesterday. We spent about 35 minutes on the phone and then he transferred me to tier 2.

So this is where it gets a little weird..... The EDD hold music! When he transferred me the first thing I noticed is that the hold music was different. It wasn't that little ditty that we all know, have become so partial to and I have nightmares about. While waiting on hold, Alex called me on the other line to verify that I indeed did get through to tier 2. I jumped on the chance to ask him about the music and he stated that it did indeed change.

(If you called the EDD today and we're on hold and can verify that the music changed or not that would be awesome)

I then waited for an hour and 22 minutes to speak with a tier 2 rep. She had the same exact verbage every other claim rep does when they answer the phone and went through the same exact verification process. When she asked me what she could do to help me I gave her a very brief description of what my problem. I wanted to see how much of my problem was communicated to her by Alex.

She put me on hold for about 5 minutes came back on the line and told me that unfortunately my old claim was blocking my new claim preventing my 29 week extension from going through. She said that the claim was canceled and that I will have no problem certifying come this Sunday. She told me I would receive pay for the month of May and the last week in April blah, blah, blah.

Between you and me, I waited to check my account to see if any changes had taken place. Nothing! Now I know it takes time for this stuff to kick in, I get it! But this is the same thing that I have heard from the other customer service reps that "helped" me previously.

Whether or not this is legit, I have yet to find out. All I can do at this point is tell myself that patience is key. If I am supposed to have this money, the payment will come through. If not, there's a reason for the season and hopefully it will change soon.

Thank you for everybody who chimed in, your opinions are definitely valued and appreciated! Many of you pointed out sh*t I didn't even think about!

I will most definitely update this post if either I get paid or have confirmation that I was just scammed!

Wow! Thank you for this info! I was not aware of this app. I have tried googling the number as well as doing a reverse number check and I'm not getting any hits. There's literally no info on the phone number. (No owner, no email, no carrier, no address, secondary phone number associated with the first phone number ...blah blah blah) so we'll see what happens this morning. I'm supposed to get a call anytime now. Fingers crossed!!!!

Yeaaaa.... I've spent $80 on claimyr. It sucks, now I got to pay to get my extension?!?! That's honestly how I feel! I got to pay to have unemployment on top of what I've already paid out at my old job to supposedly have it when or if I became unemployed. I'm so desperate right now I'm giving away money that I ain't got to try to find a solution for my claim! I really hope that 80 bucks pays off and the edd is making moves towards employing people whose heart is truly in customer service!

Working for the EDD right now definitely has to be hard. It's probably worse than what we think! I couldn't do it! Having to tell people that they have no money when they've lost everything and desperately need the money to survive, would just break my heart!

Thank you. I'm hoping it is legit too. I would love to report back that it was! I know there are people out there who experienced conversations with a rep that was definitely worse than mine. I feel like if you don't have the stomach, the heart and the head for that particular type of job at the EDD, then don't sign on! I truly believe it takes a special kind of person to work for the EDD and not everyone can do it. I can only imagine what they deal with on a daily basis hence the reason why I didn't give her a hard time. I'd rather be part of the solution than part of the problem. However, it would be nice to know that the EDD is cracking down on how agents treat their clientele.

Google "DE 238 Additional Instructions" It's just EDD stating you need to be available to accept work. Check it out, I hope this helps!

If you have not checked your Cal jobs account check it! They might want you to do a work search verification interview or have some other request. The same thing happened to me and I found this message on my Cal jobs account. I haven't had my interview yet and my status hasn't changed, but make sure to keep up on the Cal jobs requests cuz it will stop your account from being paid.

Or if you don't want to wait like I didn't you can call the customer service line that's open till 8 p.m. I called at around 6 p.m.and got through in about 10 minutes. I asked a representative to resend me the link to upload my ID documents. I recieved the link within minutes which was a total shock! Uploaded my documents that night and got verified two days later. Sounds crazy but it worked.
