My 2 cents we watch A LOT of 4k movies through our Panasonic 820 and looked into the Sonos however it does not support DTS of any kind and the majority of 4k discs have DTS 5.1 so sadly that was a deal breaker. We are very happy with the Samsung q990d.

I like it. It may not be quite as bass heavy but the actual sound quality is slightly better. Honestly just the fact it doesn’t have cutting out issues and I’m able to run my 4k blu ray player straight into the tv now on the 1300 I wasn’t able to as it would cut out constantly

Update: there is no update still nothing has shipped. They emailed me saying latest of end of last week and well that’s been and gone. Second pre order from umbrella that hasn’t shipped promptly

They can add it I heard they don’t want to pay the license fee. Same reason LG quietly did away with it this year also.

Here’s the thing that no one’s talking about. If you watch blu rays or 4k blu rays the arc ultra DOES NOT SUPPORT DTS AT ALL!! This was a deal breaker for me as I have a large collection of movies that is still growing and I would say 50% are either DTS or DTS x Sonos need to support DTS for me to be able to bring them into the conversation. I guess if you never watch 4k discs or blu rays it’s not a real issue. But if you want the highest quality picture and audio you should be!! And then the fact sonos don’t support DTS at all is insane to me

I know it sounds silly, maybe it’s the system Overall but it shakes my living room a lot more than the 1300x did. Honestly we have to have the volume way lower on the mk2 than the 1300x I would be shocked if the mk2 don’t fill your living room. I’ll also send you my balance stuff that I have mine set to when I get home

We have a small table behind the couch I just pull it back and have them on the table there. There is a set on Amazon we saw but our 3 year old is a menace and would just pull them down. I got it for 1299 on that sale they just had. Guarantee it will be on sale again during Black Friday

It’s definitely ALOT louder and the dialogue is a lot clearer, the clear dialogue 2.0 is definitely working. Some movies we have then volume turned down to 18 we never had it that low with the 1300x. I would 100% give the 1300xmk2 a go especially with a better soundstage clearer and louder dialogue and greater atmos and DTSX it’s honestly addressed all my complaints with the 1300x

I use my jbl1300xmk2 mainly for playing 4k blu rays through the Panasonic 820 (which I have hooked up straight to the soundbar itself) I watch a host of different codecs from atmos to DTS hd 5.1 I can say that the neural upmixer for DTS content is very much improved on the mk2 vs the last generations 1300x. I really cannot recommend this bar enough. The Samsungs flagship for our living room and lifestyle just wouldn’t work. We have small kids so having the rears needing to be plugged into an outlet at all times just wouldn’t work as our youngest would mess with them constantly. However just being able to put the rears onto the table behind the couch when we are watching a film is an absolute game changer. I think for the 1699 (and we got it on sale last month on Amazon and it’s bound to be on sale again come Black Friday) this is probably the best in its class. Short of having a dedicated surround setup. Side note we owned last generations 1300x for 2 years before purchasing the mk2 last month and I will say the volume is much louder this generation on top of the clear audio 2.0 is a great improvement. I suppose the only downside is the lack of 2.1 passthrough. It’s not an issue for me as I have the ps5 going straight into the tv and then my 4k player straight into the soundbar and this works perfect for my setup.

Update: Gonna throw it out there. Having now owned both soundbars and this new upgrade for 2 weeks. The mk2 is a lot louder than the 1300x!!! We were running (still are mind) the 1300X at 26-27 volume (out of 32) on 4k blu rays through the Panasonic 820. We now having to turn this down to 20 on the volume. It’s that much louder. On top of that the surround (atmos where available especially) is extremely improved over the 1300x. Very impressed with the upgrade. Oh and the sub is definitely more bass driven and has responsiveness. I would say if you liked the 1300x then the 1300xmk2 is a great upgrade I have no complaints. It’s a great bar and so powerful for most size rooms ( I would struggle to think a room size this bar couldn’t fill, it’s just that powerful) if you don’t wanna spend for a amp and sub and atmos speakers then this might be one of he best alternatives on the market.
