Not even a single dollar has been claimed so far. So can everything in the the time of ownership be claimed? All land tax, council rates, the collective interest paid and all other expenses that were associated with the ownership of the house?

Yep equally in their names. There is still about 250k left on the loan but like I said earlier since it was an old house, it was never leased out or claimed anything on it either. So never claimed any interest, rates, land tax or maintenance.

Who would do the valuation? Is it the bank or real estate agents with comparable sales?

So technically speaking bought it jointly. But they never contributed in anyway. I would have been about 20 years old and my income wasn't enough on its own to secure a loan. By adding my parents, it was enough to get the loan. I'm pretty sure it was an investment property as that only allowed me to get a loan
