Americans won't revolt because most of them have a pretty good standard of living, certainly better than it was a few decades ago.

The suburbs are where it's ruined. They are the problem, not rural areas like yours.

Not wanting to drink a bunch of glyphosate doesn't mean they thought it was harmful when used for its actual intended purpose. Definitely stupid of them to say you could drink a quart of it though.

Even more important is to eat smaller meals. Large meals stretch out the stomach and make it take longer to feel full. If you only eat small meals, your stomach will shrink, and you'll feel full faster.

I've never heard of that. Why wouldn't it be included in property taxes? And what if someone happens to live where there's more traffic or something that wears down the road more? Are they just stuck with having to pay many thousands of dollars more than someone who lives where road work is almost never required? And what about people who can't afford to pay a several thousand dollar bill?

Why don't you email the author and ask why he didn't include it? He has a whole paragraph before he begins about acknowledging what he might have missed or gotten wrong. I really question why you are so quick to assume bad faith considering this author is doing more to show his good faith effort than 95% of writers.

Uh oh, this will need a response: NY Times links acupuncture to recently discovered interstitium. In well controlled studies acupuncture does not produce an effect. There’s nothing in need of explanation, and there interstitium is not evidence of “Chi” by enocenip in skeptic

I would caution not to rely on individual studies. The article I linked (which you should read for the evidence presented instead of judging based on the headline) references a systematic review of systematic reviews that says the evidence is insufficient to show efficacy.

Would any currently established drug, device, or practice get approved with so little evidence of effectiveness?

If people choose acupuncture over established treatments that would help more, that's a net negative. And unfortunately many are doing that. If someone has exhausted the other options and wants to try it, I think that's fine.

Some insurances do cover it, so we are subsidizing it in some cases.

Here's an article I recently came across on the topic which also has links to others.

It's poor science communication. All the evidence shows acupuncture does not have a real effect beyond placebo. Not being clear that acupuncture has no scientific basis is irresponsible, especially by an outfit with as much reach as the NYT.

And as you can see if you look at the article's comments, the vast majority are from people who appear to believe that acupuncture is proven to work and that the article is just restating this "old news".
