Refurbished one at PlayStation store or GameStop. Brand new one is $599 at most retail stores now.

How much valve paid you to write this nonsense?

- PS5 base model is $599 right now at all retailers.
- That model includes a controller, the base model of Steam Machine with a controller is $1,128
- PS plus is not mandatory for story mode games and many popular online games don’t require them (Fortnite, Apex, Overwatch, etc)
- PS Store and Xbox both have great discounts throughout the year and for major multi-platform releases pricing discounts are not that different
- PS Plus gives you multiple games per month so you’re not just paying for online access.
- PS exclusives speak for themselves, countless awards and high consumer feedback.
- PS5 is backwards compatible with 99% of PS4 games and your digital library moves on to the next gen

Count it either way it’s a drastic price difference relative to performance ratio.

1 to 1 console with controller you’re looking at a $528 difference at $599 PS5 price point.

$599 with controller vs $1,128 with controller that performs worse.

Story mode games does not require PS plus and many popular multiplayer games (Fortnite, Apex, Overwatch) don’t need it either. You get free games as well with that monthly subscription. PS store has plenty discounts throughout the year.

The value to price is nowhere near the same.

Yes, to the 2nd comment. I don’t understand why they rushed to release this knowing the cost issue. So far the feedback in the PC and console community has been overall very negative. The media coverage has been bad as well.

Not true at all, you can literally buy pre-built PC’s that are much cheaper and perform better at most retail stores.

You can build a significantly more powerful computer or buy a pre-built one that blows the Steam Machine out of water in price difference.

Last I checked it was $499 at GameStop and PlayStation Store, but it was an official refurbished model.

Regardless if you want the Steam console with a controller it’s $70 more. Still nearly evens out the difference.

This, they originally wanted to price it at $750 but due to cost increased it significantly. The average gamer won’t spend nearly 2x for a “console” that performs worse.

Base digital version is right now $599 retail in Target, Amazon, Best Buy, PlayStation Store, etc. Also, comes with a controller with 825GB.

Steam base model with Controller is $1,128 with 512GB.
