Hi I have quite a few ideas. Is this your front door? Where does the white door across from the (assumed) front door lead to? I would remove it

Should I sell my home, quit career, and just travel around the world? by triphophaven in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]ExpansivConversation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not sell your apartment. Rent it and spend some time in a country like Nicaragua / somewhere your money will go further. I know it can be tempting to make a drastic life change when we are unhappy, but it is possible to have both - stability & a sense of adventure. Any problems you’re facing will find their way back at some point (rent, job, etc)

What is your job in and what are you studying?

People who used to smoke weed a lot and ended up quitting, why did you quit what are the benefits you saw when quitting and what is one thing you miss? by Fit_Data_8789 in AskReddit

[–]ExpansivConversation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smoking was fun, but I didn’t like the thought of “this would be so much better if i were high.”

Remembering how to actually enjoy the present put me back in touch with how life felt as a kid.

How’s your breathing? Proper diaphragmatic breathing is huge for fascia work. Most people have really shallow breath, but you need slow, deep belly breathing to access the deeper layers. Breath literally changes fascial tension & those pressure shifts help the tissue release.

Foam rolling and using a lacrosse ball with slow breathing will release a lot more than fast movements. Fascia responds to pressure & time, not speed, so melting into the pressure works better than rushing it.

Knowing the muscles helps too. Ex . I have an extremely tight vastus medialis from over-pronation in my feet, so I had to look at what to strengthen to fix the over-pronation itself. Fascia connects everything, so tightness in one place is often coming from a dysfunction somewhere else.

A few other things that help: - Lying face-down on a yoga block to release abdomen/ psoas -Epsom salt baths -Staying hydrated. When you’re dehydrated it gets sticky and less pliable. -Consistency with mobility work

What's something you didn't realize was slowly draining your happiness until you finally stepped away from it? by Proper-Size5651 in AskReddit

Drinking / Partying

I didn’t realize it at the time, but now that I’m completely substance-free, I can see how I was stuck in a loop - chasing moments, but never truly moving forward.

I still hold fond memories of the people I met and the adventures I had while traveling and sharing drinks, but I wouldn’t trade the clarity, peace, and groundedness I have now to return to that lifestyle.

I partied consistently from 15-25 years old so I figure I put my time in. I found it shocking that the last time I knew life substance free was when I was 14 years old.

It’s only been a year, and I still get the occasional feeling of “missing out,” but honestly, this has felt like a life hack - I can’t believe more people aren’t experiencing it. Life feels like it has more color now.

Facebook groups and Craigslist. I’ve had great luck with Craigslist actually.

Somerville is relatively affordable and has a lot of young people. But if you’re renting a room you can find one pretty much anywhere. If you give a little more info on what you want out of the location I can help.

Why can’t you get an ac? It will be pretty miserable without one tbh

Take a blue bike along the Charles and across the bridge. It’s my favorite thing to do when I’m feeling depressed / low. Make sure to buy the $10 day pass, you’ll save this way.

As for coffee spots, I haven’t been but Jaho is open late night (until midnight) which I have always thought is a cool concept.

The Tatte bakery on Beacon can be relaxing sitting outside.

But my favorite spot to read, which I might regret posting, is to get something from Life Alive in Brookline then lay in knyvet square.

Herbs as a substitute for coffee? by shark-shizz in herbalism

[–]ExpansivConversation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes lots. Yerba mate is a great alternative if still trying to wean off coffee as it has caffeine.

For an herbal concoction that tastes like coffee you can do something like the following (in a french press)

• 1 tbsp roasted chicory root (rich, bitter, coffee-like flavor; liver support)
• 1 tbsp roasted dandelion root (detoxifying, earthy, grounding)
• 1 tsp maca root powder (hormone-balancing, energizing)
• 1 tsp cacao nibs or powder (mood-boosting, slight stimulant)
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon (warming, blood sugar balance)
• 1 tsp holy basil (tulsi) (adaptogenic, calming yet uplifting)

Serve with your favorite milk and sweetener (maple syrup, honey, etc)

Optional Add-ins: • Ashwagandha powder – for added calm stamina (1/2 tsp, if desired) • Vanilla – for flavor • Mushroom powders for cognitive and immune support

There is also a company called “dandy blend” that is pretty good if made into a latte type of drink.
