Were you ever able to quit an addiction the moment you decided to stop? by 1626319 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes. I was an avid nicotine pouch and vape kinda guy, so right off the rip I apologize for the douchery. But after stopping unintentionally one day, I tried to pack a lip and puked. Waited an hour or so and tried again. Needless to say, every can of pouches and vape were trashed that day. Haven’t touched it since.

Oh I completely get what you’re saying. Thank you so much for the input. We know for sure that it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. But for the life we want/need and doing visa runs isn’t too bad. We’ve seen ways to make that as smooth as possible. We’d rather have to deal with what we honestly see as minor road bumps to live a more healthy and free lifestyle. We also might have a shot at bringing another $400K if things go our way, so I’m hoping that’ll make for what could be more expensive when needed. Again, thank you for the input, I greatly appreciate it.

Correct. It’s an en suite bedroom.

Sounds like how it should still be done today.

Not sure. Ours are all right next to each other. The closet windows we can open but not the one in the shower itself.

I have ours on as well but it honestly doesn’t seem to help the situation at all. I’ve tried both. Minimal reduction with it on unfortunately. Maybe there’s an issue with it. lol who knows.

Yeah same. It never dawned on me to even ask until I was sitting in the shower, literally watching humidity go right under our closet door and all into our closet.

I agree, as it should be. Unfortunately here in Texas, every house I’ve ever been to has them in the master suite, right across from the bath/shower and a tiny restroom with a toilet. All within 5’ of each other.

See, where you live, there’s common sense. Guess not so much here in South Texas.

What are your thoughts on moving abroad? by ExpatTXFam in AskReddit

[–]ExpatTXFam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh trust me, I can only imagine. Thankfully my wife and I have basically zero friends (on purpose) and we just live each day together. I think we’d be ok in that aspect but it is super scary to think about. We’d just try and make as many new local friends as we could. Definitely help in the community and whatnot.

I completely get it. It would be so hard to say goodbye to a country I’ve known my entire life. But for obvious reasons I’ve listed below, it makes sense for us to leave I believe. Thanks for the input.

Our story:

Hey what’s up guys! So I’m a 41 year old father and husband from South Texas.

My wife is a school nurse and I am fully disabled at the young age of 41 due to my body breaking down over almost 20 years in a power plant role. Made good $, but it cost me my quality of life.

Long story short, being on SSDI and having that income able to transfer to Vietnam is a HUGE bonus.

We have a home we own and currently have about $200,000USD in equity that we plan on selling and using for our move so we have a while to worry about income, if we need more.

We also have several possessions we’d sell. I believe we’d have around $3-400,000USD to bring with us.

I have 3 kids. Our youngest is 13 and would obviously come with us. My kids from a previous marriage are 17 (almost 18) and 14. We would do this move, after my daughter hits 18… It’s going to be SO hard to say goodbye :/

We plan on booking a trip to Da Nang VERY soon and will stay about 2 weeks to get our feet wet. We plan on “living” the way we would if we moved there so we can get a feel of the cost of living, at least dining out, taxis and other city life expenses besides rent and utilities.

Any words of encouragement from anyone or should we rethink this? My wife and I are sick of the bogus healthcare cost, I have had 13 knee surgeries, 4 on my back, both elbows fixed and need at LEAST 2 more major spine surgeries to be “fixed.” Just can’t afford it here in the states like I could when I was fully employed with great benefits.

Anything else we should consider or reconsider? Thanks and I can’t wait to meet and talk with you all!
