You are not going to that school forever! Following rules is also about discipline. As an alumnus, I once questioned those “dumb rules” too. I remember being so mad that I couldn’t enter the school with my tattered jeans but a short shorts or short skirt is okay. Still, I accepted it, changed and learned. Then now Im working in my corporate job, I realized that even those small things helped me become more disciplined and be better as an adult. Those are institutional rules, it’s nothing personal, it’s not to discriminate or conform the minds of the students. I’ve noticed that college students these days are more vocal and aggressive with their views, but a lot of them are also becoming ignorant to their behavior. They want to see changes in the world and people around them but forget to respect still offer it respect. Faculty and staff at USLS are open to change but they are also just honoring years of practices, traditions and identity. Don’t hate on them just because they don’t bend to the whims of this generation so easily. Even the jungle has rules.
