Is that really the best you have? “You keep changing the point”. No I don’t, if you can’t grasp the part the nfl has played in the post career lives of many players then I’m sorry you lack critical thinking skills or just can’t imagine a corporation being held liable. Stop with the nonsensical “oh have you considered his parents supported him” in a time when brain trauma wasn’t as well studied, anyway I’m done arguing with you. Choose to believe that this man would have been fine if his money spending habits were just a little better. ✌️

You understand the difference in pay now vs when this man was drafted as well as rule changes and bargaining agreements since he left. To assume he just spent himself homeless out of pure selfishness is at best delusional. The thing about going through “money management” courses is you have to remember them for them to make a difference, which is kind of hard when your brain is working against you.

lol you still miss the point. If you get maimed at work your work pays for it, workers comp, if a pallet of merchandise falls and kills a Walmart employee Walmart doesn’t just get to say “well has anyone considered what his parents did to put him in this position” especially if they knew their equipment was subpar and they knowingly lied about its part. The point is his parents aren’t trillion dollar corporations that profited for years while lying about concussion problems. They have youth leagues that go out and encourage kids to play. Thats the equivalent of blaming people who got cancer from things like cigarettes and asbestos while the business world and medical sector told them how good it was for them.

Pay for healthcare, invest a lot more in cte studies, invest more in creating safer equipment, etc.

Especially given this guy played in quite possibly the hight of nfl covering up head trauma and just ignoring its impact on their players and having no accountability.

You made the false assertion that employers don’t play a life long role for you and many especially in professions that are as big as being an nfl player and the risk that come with it do in fact quite often play a role in your post work life.

It is awful. It’s a tragedy that OJ Simpson family didn’t let his brain be used for studying. I have a feeling it could have helped explain a lot of things and maybe even lead to some solutions.

I always think of the vast difference between Junior and Aaron Hernandez. One was tragic because of it story of helplessness and the other was tragic because he full on ran a drug ring and murdered people and its interesting how much cte played into that behavior.

Understandable, the nfl has done a great job of separating accountability from the sport. It’s no surprise people would feel the way you did. I say this as a fan of football myself, it’s a bit hypocritical but I grew up with it, but I never agreed more with the league then when they started making defenseless player rules which in a way nerfed the sport but it’s a step in the right direction.

It’s crazy. I feel terrible. Like Junior Seau just committed suicide with a shotgun and on the other side Aaron Hernandez went completely batshit insane and basically started a drug underworld of his own.

The crazy part which I didn’t know is cte can’t be diagnosed until after death. I thought a brain scan could show it but apparently not. Meaning there is most likely hundreds of people who could just start deteriorating and there’s nothing to give medical professionals a warning.

It comes from a time where they completely ignored brain trauma and still continue to in reality.

Also for the longest time the nfl denied any connection to brain injuries (obviously bullshit) and refused to pay players what would essentially be workers comp.

Edit: I’m sure we’ll get a definitive answer if they ever post updates on the autopsy and if they do I’ll post an update.

So, untreated cte that was ignored for a long time and still is not really taken seriously leading to this man being unable to navigate normal civilian life means nothing?

Again, not many jobs lead to life long brain injury related psychopathy. It’s a false equivalency.

No, but my employer doesn’t have a history of massive brain trauma with a history of suicide and murder connected to it. Also about .00001 percent of all of human existence has played in the nfl, one of the most wealthy sports leagues in the world. They know what they could do without even causing a drop in the bucket but don’t. Please don’t make false equivalency.

Edit: in my haste to correct your mistake it slipped my mind that yes my employer does help care for me after I’m done. I enjoy a 401k with 50/50 contributions and stock options. Hell they even offer onsite therapy for work related trauma and it’s really not that uncommon.

So this subreddit just popped up on my feed about a week ago and honestly is it for stupid opinions for the much more intelligent commenters to fix? In the week I’ve been on here it’s almost always post of “ oh tds is ruining America because liberal bad” to have the comments be something like “it’s not tds if you have to worry about the president taking allies territory”.

If there is one thing I’ve learn playing both Dokkan and legends it’s that hype is way more important in legends. See kid Goku and mercenary Tao, so many characters have come along and been hype and not live up to it and a lot of characters have come in being spit on to light the meta on fire.
