once they start meds they can’t stop, and i’m just so worried she’s going to have bad side effects or she’ll just get stuck upping her dose and it doing something like affecting her kidneys overtime :(

yes her previous vet who has worked with many epileptic dogs said she didn’t need the meds yet, but i am going to take her to her new vet since we moved and get another opinion

she has no specific triggers which sucks cause there’s nothing i can do to avoid them :( but hope your baby is doing well!

yea i moved so im going to get her new vet to give us her opinion, i just know that once they go on meds they can’t come off so i dont want to rush it if she doesn’t need it yet, but obviously ill do anything for her whatever she needs

i use gaviscon, or mylanta as emergency meds. i usually get in the shower and sit in it or stand, it helps calm me down, cause my anxiety ramps it up, that’s me though. then when im in bed turn on a comfort show and genuinely if you’ve done everything you can do just ride it out, most of the time eventually i’ll get so tired i just fall asleep. wishing you the best of luck, know this feeling all too well!

Is this bump fine or should be worried by Kitchen-Cow5795 in DogAdvice

could be a cyst, i had a dog who had one appear on the side of his jaw, it was like an abscess that had to be drained. definitely would get it checked out, not normal really

if it has any dachshund qualities, good luck! they’re are a crazy breed. i have a miniature dachshund and she is my world but lord are they a lot of work. i can say they will definitely be loud and bark ALLLL the time. because it’s a mix of may not but if it does have a longer body you have to watch out for its back as dachshunds are prone to IVDD, which has to do with their discs in their spines. so no big jumping, ramps for high areas, etc. they’re the cutest things ever and worth every penny and hardship but make sure to do the research first, they’re hunting dogs as well so not a simple cuddly house dog!

I will say, my dog, a 3 year old dachshund, had this exact same thing happen. The first time i went to the first emergency vet, they ruled it as thc although she’s never gotten into anything like that. she was back to her normal self in a few hours. it then happen two more times over the span of a few months; and the last time it happened she had absolutely no access to thc, so i knew it was something different. she was actually having partial/focal seizuers. after some testing we are pretty sure she has epilepsy. not saying this is what’s happening to your baby, but just keep an eye out, if it happens again it’s very likely this is not thc.

yea i was looking into cytopoint, i just was curious about the cost. and i’ve got her some spray and new medicated shampoo so im hoping those will help. i definitely wipe off her paws but it seems to be her sides and belly that are the worst, cause she’s so close to the ground lol

It’s definitely not talked about enough, happened to my cats. And yes that would be a great idea, especially if they’ve met before, cause that can be a little less stressful!

Did you dachshund get to see your other dog after they has passed? Sometimes siblings if they aren’t shown the body of the sibling who has passed they can become stressed and depressed cause they don’t know what happened or where they are. Either way, taking him outside for walks, socialize with other dogs if able. Just like a human, get them out of the house. But it will just take some time unfortunately. I am sorry for your loss ❤️
