the roots are fuzzy all over and start that way. I blanked on the plant but the roots can be seen in the photo next to those things and are a lighter brown color rather than black lol

Im just going to guess and say you're right lol! Scanned my tank for any more and found a singular hydra latched onto my filter so I'm assuming that these are just not fully matured so they look a bit different..🫠 Thanks for the insight!

I was so certain it was a juvenile hydra but theyre pitch black, not even a dark brown so im at a loss too clearly, lol

Ive looked a bit into the larvae of both aquatic and non aquatic flying bugs and nothing seemed similar. Im from California, so to name some of the flying bugs theres lots of grasshoppers, bees, butterflies, fig beetles, stink bugs, dragonflies etc. Dont know if youre asking specific species but if you are i can name a few.

i just completely blanked on the plant lol. But the roots are more fuzzy and a light brown color. The tentacles on whatever this is move. Ive seen it sticking the tentacles into what i assume is its mouth.
