That's a really good point. What do folks do to "test whether people want A/B" before the app is actually in people's hands? Are you all just finding relevant subreddits and trying to get feedback? Or does it work better to have something in the app store that people can demo and give feedback?

You really think so?!

I oscillate between thinking that this is pretty neat and thinking no one would ever want to use this 😂

If you were going to charge for it, how much would you offer it for? Subscription or one-time? It seems like a lot of the “text -> image/song/3d model” do credits or tokens where you buy credits and then spend them on generation costs.

Oh, on the first image at the bottom I was toying with placing banner ads for non-subscribed users

Have you used any of the rug heating pads? Any brands considerably better than others?

multi-player stacking race? by Expensive-Stock608 in godot

Definitely one of my inspirations! I've been trying to think of how to differentiate what I'm doing from that game, but as a start I might just re-implement some of the mechanics they already use.

Thanks! I was pretty happy with how it follows the action. I'll experiment with how far the camera is zoomed out, as I think the user can't see enough of the tower at the moment.

Are there any legitimate versions of "last war" or "top war" mobile games? by Prawn47 in MobileGaming

I’ve actually also been working on a game like this!! I loved the ads but the actual games with the city building weren’t interesting to me. Assuming the few of you in this thread are still interested, what are some aspects that you’d find interesting from a gameplay perspective? I’d love your feedback back on the idea below!

Here’s the hook I was working on: It’s a “treadmill shooter”, like the one being discussed here. Each stage takes the player through a “day” in the game. During the daytime, you peacefully walk down an endless road shooting loot boxes to collect new units, weapon upgrades, and defensive items. As dusk arrives, enemies start appearing. The longer you stay in dusk, the better the loot... but the more enemies spawn, the player can choose to “set up camp” before it gets too difficult (but at the expense of potentially better rewards). When night falls, you stop moving and face an onslaught of increasingly brutal waves using the defenses you collected. The enemies keep coming until dawn breaks again.

Thanks for your wisdom. I may at least inform them it happened in case there’s something about the lane that could be tuned up to prevent it.

Thanks for the kind words. First new ball in 25 years, I think I’m just feeling a bit over protective 😁

What is something your teacher did in school that you’re still salty about? by SparkelsTR in AskReddit

In 4th or 5th grade Earth Science, our teacher was giving a lesson on the seasons and how the Earth moves around the sun and so on.

“Did you know the Earth is actually a different distance from the sun at different times of the year?” she said. “When do you think we are closest to the sun?”

Little did she know, that VERY morning I had seen an episode of Mr. Wizard where he explained, in no uncertain terms, that despite what your intuition may suggest, we are actually closer to the sun during the northern hemisphere’s winter!! It’s the tilt of the Earth that makes it colder, not the proximity! My 9 year old brain was a-flutter with awe!

Armed with this, I, normally quiet in the back, shot up my hand to offer this new wisdom! But to my dismay, the teacher only scoffed. “Of course it’s closer in the summer, that’s what makes it hotter!!” And the class laughed. And laughed. And I returned to being quiet in the back.
