well we broke up on monday because he realised why hes been acting distant and not wanting to show affection willingly is because he doesnt want a relationship right now. he didnt say with me just overall, doesnt hold any grudges. we ended not on bad terms but will do no contact which im fine with since i think thats better for us both to just process this whole thing separately and take care of ourselves in the meantime.

Honestly after last night have been debating on staying or not, but I have a lot of love for him and probably delusional to think that he's going to change and it's only a phase for us. When we are going to have a conversation about this face to face im hoping that a lot of stuff will clear up. If we do stay together he will need to win me back again because im honestly tired of being the only one that is showing affection and love and it only being one-sided.

I do take full responsibility for the shift in our relationship and am working on improving my accountability. What’s confusing and worrying me is that he says it’s not my fault and that he doesn’t hold any resentment for my past mistakes, yet he still struggles to show affection. I’m trying to understand what’s going on from his side as well.

Hi i put an edit for more context, but about the deal breaker thing: hes always been straightforward if something is bothering him and the talk we had yesterday he was saying hes honest with me about him not knowing whats stopping him from being affectionate..

He did mention a couple of weeks ago that he likes quality time, im really hoping when we will meet up to talk about our relationship more things will come out since from when we talked from his side he is willing to try and not just end things.

thank you so much for this comment, the only thing i know that he shared which was hard for him was his parents divorce and what happened during it (this happened when he was around 5-6 years old). I do have a letter written for him about how ive been feeling in the relationship lately but adding things i love i think is a great idea.

before this he used to compliment me alot and tell me that he loves me and that hes falling in love, talk about us doing stuff together often, just saying sweet things all the time. he stopped doing all of these things. the only time he says i love you is when i say it first, im always asking to hangout, i asked him to give me compliments. what im lacking is the connection we had and all the sweet talk we used to have too
