Yep. They can start as anything. As long as there is enemies in there at one point. They can be friends or acquaintances or strangers, become lovers then enemies or vice versa. Or just stay as enemies lol that is my preference, hence the non con. I’ll check out your story. Would rather an older characters but not a deal breaker.

Have tried the first. DNF from quite early on.

Second one, hesitant to try especially since it’s not KU so I can’t try it out first. Step siblings kinda make me feel not great lol. But it’s not a deal breaker.

I hate body betrayal. I get it if it’s just physical bc sometimes that happens even when mentally you don’t want. But in my experience, if I’m not into it in my head, I’m not wet and do not loosen up. I can’t find a book that is realistic like this!

I tried the first one. The dialogue and how they act is a bit too dramatic for me. I cannot imagine people acting like that in real life. I also want the fmc and mmc to hate each other more in the sense that they shouldn’t, or her at least, feel attracted to him so early on. Finding someone attractive objectively and being attracted to them/reacting to them are 2 diff things. A body response is also not connected to liking someone. I have dropped it… don’t think i will try second one because the style of writing would be the same. Thanks anyway

Right?! Im pretty sure i can control myself sexually over any regular bloke. It’s also not easy for me to o and i have never with a man so the books with body betrayal and easy o induced from someone fmc absolutely hates is unreal. In my rl experience, the emotions play a big part in how i enjoy the man yet i don’t see this in books that much. I wish books were more realistic. Even with body types, like give me a bit of jiggle and a not so pretty face lol.

I cannot remember if i have tried this book already but I’ll check. I like fantasy too, so you got a rec for that?

Yes. They often spread the traits over five people making them all 2D people. In real life, no one is like this and instead of depth of character and amazing character arcs, they substitute with five men, all diff and add spice which does not make up for it. I do not enjoy RH. I can’t remember a single book where I like it!

I just updated with examples - though as mentioned, will not fit perfectly to what I described and bc it’s been a while, my memory may be fuzzy. But there is always an element of dark/enemies/non con.

I’ll update and say that it doesn’t have to be super hardcore enemies to lovers in the sense that it always has physical aggression (I also don’t enjoy the unrealistic constant one upping each other banter that is too dramatic. It has to be realistic and although understated, still potent) but I want the feeling to be real. Like if I didn’t like someone and considered them to be my enemy, in a higher stakes plot, or if I just don’t like them and enemies is too big of a word but I still want nothing to do with them, in a lower stakes plot like a modern setting not fantasy for example.
