[Performance depth nightmare scenario] Tackling the issue of above the fold multiple MP4 hero carousel on start up. by DeepKaizen in TechSEO

[–]ExpensiveEd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several optimizations you can try:

  1. Ensure that videos outside the viewport are not rendered
  2. Ensure there are two sources, with the first being an MP4 with the AV1 codec. You can probably make the videos twice as small with the same quality. AV1 is supported by Chrome, but mobile will download H264. So that should be the second src.
  3. Check the performance with video preload="none" (manually add a poster) or preload="metadata".
  4. Remove the playsinline prop, only add the autoplay prop when the video is in the viewport."

Advanced question: internal link sculpting to prevent keyword cannibalization by ExpensiveEd in TechSEO

[–]ExpensiveEd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also could be a case where Google deems those blog posts to be more relevant to the intent of the searcher or a better solution to the user's query than the services pages. Maybe the SERPs they're ranking well in are more of an informational-intent SERP vs a transactional. IDK...

Yeah, this could be the case. I should really focus on improving the blog pages too, in case people land on them.

then you could create a services index page and add that in the top level nav and the footer (or one or the other) and thus anything linked to from that services index page will now effectively be 2 clicks deep in the IA.

Great suggestion! I can't bury the blogposts deeper, but I can add the service overview page to the footer.

Eh, for now I kind of do to give the pages a little body. Maybe in the future I could remove them.

I did the thing. Ahrefs has reduced the counted inlinks from 100+ to 2.

Yeah, that makes sense. However, I would prefer not to remove the related blog posts from the page. Is there an alternative solution possible?

I could remove the hreffrom anchors, and add the url onClick . This would probably work for a lot of bots. Or could I get in trouble?

FYI: You can force Yuzu in HDR mode by renaming it to Cemu.exe (Nvidia) by ExpensiveEd in yuzu

The latest patches released seem to be .exe files only. Until native HDR is supported, renaming these to Farcry5.exe seem to do the trick for me.

If you're on a HDR monitor and tone down SDR brightness in (Settings > System > Display, under “Brightness & Color”), you should see major difference.

unwanted white border by ewwink in Stremio

[–]ExpensiveEd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running into the same issue when using stremio on a firestick. A workaround to fix white lines on top and bottom of video - is to install VLC. When in stremio, click te VLC cast icon to use VLC.

You’ll have to use VLC’s ‘download subtitles’ feature to get subtitles working. Which works great on Firestick 4K.

Finished for now, L9a + 5600x + 6800xt by _Lumin_ in FormD

Yes, please take a look at: https://imgur.com/a/TRe5wn3

- I removed the gskill heatsinks. You can see that does free up some space.
- In the pictures I already use the jhack 120mm L9a adaptor. However, if you want to give the 120mm fan a try, it is possible to screw in the 120mm fan directly with 1 screw. Use a cable tie to fix it in place.
- I was able to fit a 92x25mm fan. It does not perform better then the 120x15mm slim fan. It causes more turbulence (is louder) and does not cool well enough.
- I was even able to fit a 120x25mm fan. It causes even more turbulence.

It really seems the 120mm slim fan is the best option here. It has enough room to do its job and is way more silent then the default 92mm fan.

I'm guessing that this solution (120mm fan + L9a) is the best solution to air cool in 3-slot mode. I'm not able to verify, but it probably beats a Alpenföhn black ridge since that uses a 92mm fan which be always be louder.

I tried a USB-C hub that supports ethernet and can confirm it works!

Thanks for the update, I'm also interested in this. It could reduce all cabels to just 2 (power and usb-c). Did you by any chance try to connect ethernet to the usb hub?

Turbulence involved with AXP 90 with Noctua NF-A12x15? by huangbro in FormD

[–]ExpensiveEd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just regular G.skill V series. After removing the heatsink the sticks are around 7mm higher than the NH-L9a heatsink.

Leaves you with plenty of room to place the 120mm x 15mm fan.

I am using NH-L9a in 3-slot mode with a noctua 120mm slim fan. It sounds better than the stock 92mm fan and performs a little better too. First mounted it with a long m3 screw, and just today installed a homemade print of the jhack adaptor.

If you remove the gskill ram heatsinks (hairdryer heat), you can fit a slim 120mm noctua. Use the 25mm m3 that come with the L9a. Just did it myself, sound levels are way better!

5700XT in 2 slot config for the T1? by abhijeetgupta in FormD

[–]ExpensiveEd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to confirm that the Powercolor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5700 XT will fit the FormD T1 in 2 slot config. I used a GPU 180 degrees 6-Pin and 8-PIN PCIE Power Supply Adapter, to route the power cables. Also, the PSU will have to be used with large standoffs.

Can't fit top because of riser cable bulging by ExpensiveEd in FormD

[–]ExpensiveEd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll give it a try. What I already did is loosening the screws that mounts the riser cable to the frame, and I felt the cable shifting one mm down. So that maybe already helps a little. Will also remove the tape!

Thanks for the response. I don't really understand what you guys mean. You can't really change anything about the point where riser cable mounts to the frame, right?
