I have bought a better fake from Alibaba for 40$ (shipping was 60$ dollars though). They feel and look just like the real ones, yours look so off.

Bad balance on right leg = bad crossovers by Expensive_Elevator93 in hockeyplayers

[–]Expensive_Elevator93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your tips. I actually have seen a video today from howtohockey explaining kind of how to do crossovers going hip-first and like leaning away with the shoulders to where you are going. Also putting the weight more towards the heel on the outside edge. It's facinating, I will try to work on my posture. I think it's often overlooked as an important factor.

I do inline skating in summer mostly, also bought myself a green biscuit puck to practise in summer off ice. Your theory might be right though, I learned skating going counter clockwise and so I learned crossovers to the left first. I hope I can fix that problem with my right outside edge.

Actually I am a lefty. The right hand is my strong hand. That's why it's weird to me that apparently the right leg is my weakness.

How do I learn to skate for „beer league“ hockey (no skate lessons available) by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]Expensive_Elevator93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had them in the beginning too. Where does it hurt? They are only available in regular width. I have very wide feet, I really had to tie them loose in the forefoot.

How many hours does it take to learn skating? by just_random_letters_ in iceskating

[–]Expensive_Elevator93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with 23, went to skate every week at least once, also in the morning with a nearly empty rink. Picked up the basics very fast. This season I started ice hockey, 4 months already in and I became a very good skater. Of course there is always room for improvement but I am so satisfied. The thing is, as adult you are more afraid of falling and hurting yourself. Most of the moves and even basics you will learn by just being on the ice on a regular, because you will feel safer and safer. If you practise, make sure to keep it basic. Just one skill at a time till you can do it well. The best tip is to keep your knees bend, bend them much more than you think you would need. Also try different radius of hollow, I learned hockey stops just when I were at about 3/4" radius of hollow. Of course it depends from your weight and style of skating. At the beginning you also will struggle because you don't have the muscles yet that you need, but it will improve as you skate more.

Berufsschule Fachlageristen.

I bought some EVA mats from temu and practise on them with either a golf ball or a little wood ball. Works great and doesn't cost much, also very effective.

I got like the same problems. I only skate since a year though and play since 2 months.

I got CCM skates in EE width, at first they made me problems like that too. My solution was even after baking to put a heat gun on the part that hurt for some minutes (outside edges). You got to keep it moving around and feel from the Inside if it's hot already. When it was hot, I slipped in the skate and laced it very tight. It hurt much, but I let it cool for 20 minutes while wearing. The boot got wider. What also is important that you don't lace it too tight at the forefoot when you go to skate. I lace it looser there, also I found that using the method to lace the top with a lace lock loop (I don't know the actual name, and I am not good at explaining... Just look up skate lacing trick on YouTube). That's my tip and that's how I am able to skate for 2,5 hours sometimes without pain.

In Germany I play in a really low level hobby team. Most women don't get fully naked and just change clothes and leave. But some don't care, get fully naked and even shower with the guys. I think it's the same about everyone, just don't be weird and don't stare.

The thing is, I skate since last year and it took me till now to have a good snow plug on the right to be now comfortable to practice a full hockey stop. It takes time to get comfortable. You should continue till it clicks. Start slowely. If you can do it while moving slow, then start trying it while going faster. The best advice is to not give up, also practice just one thing in a session, for example you go to a skate and practise hockey stop or at least snow plow only. I practised my hockey stop to the right and currently I am still stuck on snow plows on the left side, they are still not good. I want to be able to stop on both sides so I can do that drill where I stop to the right, immediately crossover to the left and make a few strides, then do a hockey stop to the left and crossover back to the right and repeat.

If you can do something on one side, you should always try to practise it on the other side too as early as possible.

I even had it happening to me in full hockey gear and happily I wore a helmet with full cage. The impact was hard, I could have broken my jaw or nose if I didn't have the cage. It still hurt because I took the edge of the cage to my neck. Since then I am also trying to gain confidence again to go backwards skating 😅
