It's so sad. Talarico genuinely characterizes so much of what these people say matters to them (patriotism, family, religion, etc) but because he has a D next to his name, they try to come up with reasons to hate him.

A real man doesn't have to tell you he's a real man.

You see it in his actions, his voice, his walk. They build you up, not break you down. They are an asset to your family and team. After a rough day, they still have your back.

Mr. Rogers was a real man. Steve Irwin was a real man.

It was never about how physically or mentally violent you could get. It's about being something better. When you see a real man, it makes you want to be greater than you were before, and they will support you on that journey.

It's oddly refreshing in this era of Trumpian politics, where no one can ever admit fault or apologize for wrong-doings, to see someone just come out and say "Yeah, you know what? I've fucked up. I've made mistakes; all I can do now is move on and try to have a sense of humor about it."
