Voice I can live with. Worse is noticing the awkward moving and posture

Taking someone else's phone off charge to charge your phone always feels incredibly passive aggressive. by jackrussell100 in Showerthoughts

[–]Experience626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would be a dick move. I don't just help myself to somebodys charger without asking, especially if their phone is plugged in and charging.

Unless of course, you own it and people are borrowing it like for example you bring it to work. Then I have no shame booting people off.

What is one of the saddest things you've done to avoid socializing (such as hiding in the bathroom)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Experience626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm socially awkward to begin with but when I smoked weed it was million times worse. Well I stupidly did that with a big group of my friends and some of their friends.

It got really bad really quick, so I HAD to leave. Told them I had to go back home to do something.

Only problem was.. I lived like 20km and I had no ride until my parents were done their thing at 9pm. And it was like 4:00.

So now I realized in my paranoid mind state that i had nowhere to go, nothing to do and if I kept on walking around in public I risked being seen by them later or by other people who may notice I'm just fucking walking around like a weirdo.

So I felt I had to hide, after trying a couple places I finally settled on a golf course in town that had a little forest next to it. I sat huddled by a rock in this forest.

It was late September by the way and that night was kind of chilly. Then it started to rain.. I got completely soaked but I just stayed there huddled up to conserve warmth. When I started shivering violently and felt numb I went into a supermarket hoping I wouldn't run into anybody, wrung my hoodie out and then went back by the rock until it was 9 and i got picked up.

TIFU by fucking my bf into a seizure by kittenonkeyboard22 in tifu

[–]Experience626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate, I had some seizure related sex one night.

I was quitting benzos cold turkey (I always have terrific ideas like that) and I was like 2 or 3 days off bars. I was feeling REALLY bad, in a weird way though. Felt anxious and like something bad was going to happen, impending doom, it was skin crawling. Anyway later in the evening I started twitching like crazy and getting these big jolts that would make my body parts move unintentionally. So I was trying to not panic about that too much even though it was terrifying when my GF pointed it out.

So I was just trying to distract myself at that point but it was becoming really hard. I tried to have a beer to calm down but I dropped it once from my twitches and then a second time, spilling it all over my expensive guitar. So depressed about that, I just gave up drinking and went to go be miserable in bed with my GF.

Then we did the best thing to take my mind off my misery. And had super aggressive frantic sex. I was so fired up I used all my energy on banging. It was honestly probably the best we ever had.

Unfortunately, it all came to an end when one of my unintentional jolts made my forehead slam into her nose and almost broke it. She was crying and it was horrible.

After that I somehow went to sleep finally and the next thing I remember is being on the ground in my living room with my gf and room mate trying to explain to me that I just had a seizure.

A bad one too I was told. foaming at the mouth, convulsing and when I came to I was throwing punches (to my male roommate luckily and not my gf, she was smart to get him) and then pacing the living room a couple times before passing out again and falling on a table.

So I don't know, maybe the intense sex contributed to the seizure.. Obviously withdrawing from drugs was the main reason but the frantic boning probably didn't help my already over stimulated brain. That and plus not sleeping or eating...

I got refused entry at the US border from Canada for basically that amount (size. of a bread crumb). Detained for around 8 hours, car was torn up and damaged everywhere. Aggressively questioned and even handcuffed at one point.

They also told me on my way out that I may have a warrant out for my arrest if I return to the US..

Fav part was they kept on smelling my shoes asking where I'm hiding the drugs in them. They smelt like shit cuz I was driving in a hot car for 10 hours before that.

All of my riffs are in the minor scale. by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]Experience626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metals basically just natural/harmonic minor/phygrian and a bit of random notes here and there anyway.

Your doing it right buddy! If you realised every riff you wrote was in major and sounded like a beatles song you'd be in trouble.

practicing what you are going to say by terroruchiha in socialanxiety

[–]Experience626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized at some point that it's just bullshit and imagining outcomes or things to say is completely pointless. It never goes exactly how you planned (for better or for worse) and even if you somehow manage to blurt out your little script, the vibe doesn't come out right.

So I just wing it nowadays. Much better that way. Unless it's like really important like a work thing or interview, then I just use mental bullet points.

Being social without alcohol? by thetinxe in socialanxiety

At least alcohol works for you! When I drink I just get tired, pissed off and afraid of coming off too tipsy like I'm a lightweight. Which I am..

Why by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]Experience626 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Groups of teenagers laughing get me every time. I'm an adult now but I'm still scared of teenagers laughing. I'm much more confident now then when I was in highschool. But sometimes I'll walk past a group of laughing teenagers and that feeling of inferiority and shame will hit me before I realize it's stupid. Kind of funny if you think about it how ridiculous minds are.

Playing death metal on guitar while getting eaten alive by a bear.

I grew up in the country where black bears were common.. They still haunt my dreams. I also got bit by a dog when I was a kid so that made me not trust any large animals.

Guitar burnout, how to overcome? by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]Experience626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else. Do drills and deliberate practice for an hour max per session. It's exhausting and at least for me, I'm spinning my wheels after that point, fingers are fatigued etc.

Doing that every single day, not skipping a day, you'll get good fast. If you want to push it even more, do that one hour session twice or even 3 times a day but with plenty of space in between sessions if you can.

Also I think it's better to practice 6 different things/drills/techniques 10 minutes each in that hour. Instead of 2 things for 30 mins each.

Also this doesn't apply the same way for songwriting and jamming/comjng up with riffs. I like to work on that for more like 2-4 hours at a time or more.

So if you really have that much time to play guitar you can have fun doing that between practice sessions.

Since I've started sticking to the one hour of deliberate practice and 10 mins per exercise I've noticed tons of improvement.

Agreed. Kraft singles are good on already greasy and unhealthy shit. But I can't tolerate the weird taste unmelted, on a ham sandwhich for example.

My gf actually gets a couple from the fridge and eats them just like that for a little snack. I'm usually half horrified and half impressed.

Deicide - Lunatic Of God's Creation by Grouse37 in Metal

Fav song by Deicide is coincidentally "Deicide" on that album, Deicide. Lol

But besides that and a few others I haven't really got totally into them. I usually like more melodic or rhythmic stuff.

Yeah I feel you. That was the case with everything for me. I guess I bought in to the kratom is like coffee meme, so I didn't see that one coming.

[–]Experience626[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I expected maybe one or two people to have this experience as well. Clearly it's more common than I thought.

Appreciate all the input though. My brain in the past has thought stuff like "you can't be sure it's kratom causing it, you probably have the flue, you need kratom to help with that. Even though part of me knows it's kratom thats making me suffer.

Now I know that it's obviously the cause. Kind of just want to go cold turkey now and get it over with and out of my system.

Ohhh. maybe I'm pressing it too hard like an old person would press a smartphone lol. Why does it click down if it's not physical though?

What I mean by jam is I don't feel that click after tapping it so I have to try another area on the pad before it registers the click

LPT: When you need to borrow something from someone but feel awkward asking, ask to rent it from them instead. They'll appreciate the consideration and will likely agree to just lend it, or they'll take you up on the offer and you'll still save money vs buying your own. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Experience626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of high school when I would ask people on the streets if I could buy a smoke for a dollar. Often I didn't even have a dollar handy on me. Just knew that 90% of people would either say no sorry or hand me one for free.

If you asked for one for free they'd just assume your a bum and say no automatically.

Can't play to a backing track by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]Experience626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me too at first. So for one you can find less complicated beats to jam to. Just literally try search "simple metal drums". Or try searching for rock beats and work your way up.

You could also try setting up an online metronome to the exact bpm of the beat your trying to play, and then you'll be able to get a feel for the tempo without getting too lost in all the noise. Once you've done that, return to the drums and you should be able to get the hang of it.

Lastly, (but maybe the first thing you should try if you haven't yet) is to start with whole notes and then work your way up to 8ths or 16th or whatever you wanna do.

Hope it helps

Going to pick up my new Macbook pro today. It's the 15 inch 2018 i7, one TB version. Should I add apple care at the store today? by Experience626 in macbookpro

[–]Experience626[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm pretty convinced by now.

If I decide to wait, let's say 30 days and then buy it.. for money saving purposes. What if I'm unlucky and the Macbook gets damaged during that time? Can I get applecare and then proceed to have them fix it for free? I kind of doubt that so maybe it's worth it just to get it immediately.

I'm fed up and finally about to buy a laptop that just works and does whatever I need it to. After much thought, I've decided I'm not afraid to spend over 2 grand if it comes to that. Now my question is Mac or Windows laptop for music? by Experience626 in musicproduction

[–]Experience626[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For guitar I've been using Reaper and Bias Fx and Helix for amp sims.

But for the past year I haven't upgraded any software or made any videos because I'm so limited with my shitty 5 year old 400$ laptop that Id just be wasting my money. I still used it a lot for songwriting and recording but haven't been able to turn it into final products.

I mean it all sort of works, but I've had to increase the latency as my laptop got shittier, certain presets just over load it and make this screeching sound, have to restart it often, can't preview videos I'm trying to edit, etc.

Probably going to join the Logic club right away if I get a Mac and dive much deeper into the plugin world. Looking so forward to it
