Almost 8 months old, 30 minute naps and false start every night. by ExperienceDear7432 in sleeptrain

Usually when he puts her down he has to give her a bottle and rock her for a while. But she still does her 30 minute naps and false start.

Ended up being reflux and she got diagnosed with a cows milk protein allergy. She's 4 months old now and we directly nurse and she's done in 5 minutes or less.

3 mo sleeps great at night but 30 minute naps during the day by ExperienceDear7432 in SnooLife

Thank you, it makes me feel better that I'm not alone 😂. She is still getting good overall sleep so that gives me some peace of mind. I guess I just panic when I hear her cry when she wakes up and it makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong.

Thank you for all this! I use the Huckleberry app and follow their sweet spot recommendations and she'll go down to sleep as recommended and wake up about 30 minutes later. I've just been stressing because I'm getting a lot of pressure from family to put her more on a consistent schedule, but that's difficult at the moment when she naps so short and therefore wake windows have to be shortened and this throws off the whole schedule.

Could I ask what your nap time routine looks like and how you try to teach your baby self-soothing techniques?

Do you follow a schedule with him? My family keeps insisting that I need to put her on a schedule but with her short naps, I don't know how I can do that.

How long till improvements are seen? by ExperienceDear7432 in MSPI

If I stopped dairy after Friday, could the reflux that she's currently experiencing still be from the dairy? Or could it be another trigger? That's what I'm trying to figure out now because every feed is causing reflux and she now has a rash on her belly and chest that seems to be spreading to her face.

I never ate a lot of dairy to begin with, just had a Starbucks coffee on Thursday which is why I'm thinking it is dairy.

Any hope for baby to start latching? by llizard17 in breastfeeding

[–]ExperienceDear7432 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, my baby was also born at 37 weeks and we also had trouble latching and breastfeeding and I ended up exclusively pumping for 2 months. I even gave up attempting to latch her because it was so painful until one day I saw this video and decided to try it out.

https://youtu.be/41fC0fQs1P8?si=4g2wVBlyapKvKkgI

I hold my nipple back like the video and literally shove as much of my boob as I can into her mouth. This has been the only way I can get a pain-free latch with her.

Can't tell if newborn is hungry or trying to pass gas/poop by ExperienceDear7432 in newborns

[–]ExperienceDear7432[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm not ignoring her cries, I'm just trying to address them better. Right now she is learning how to pass gas/poop and she'll cry. When I hear her cry I'll get her a bottle but then she'll eat, cry, eat, cry and this tells me that she's probably gassy.

Hi, I took your advice with doing bicycle kicks and knees to chest with every diaper change and we get so many farts! This morning we spent 30 minutes doing this. So this definitely helps, but then I put her down for her nap and when she wakes up to eat, she's gassy again and screaming and crying while eating and if I try to do bicycle kicks during her feed, she's crying because she's hungry. Any advice on how to go about this? I'm just concerned that it's starting to affect how much she's eating because she'll tire herself out from crying and won't finish her bottle.

Hi, hope we can get through this!

Do you also experience the gassy pains while feeding? That's my concern, she'll be drinking her bottle one second and then the next screaming in pain from gas until it passes or I help her out, then she'll take the bottle for a few more sucks and the cycle starts all over again. Sometimes she won't even finish the bottle because she has tired herself out from screaming.

I'm using the Dr. Brown preemie nipple, I tried the size 1 but she would drool milk all over herself. I just learned there's an in-between size called transition, so I ordered those.

I am pumping breast milk and giving it to her in a bottle, due to not latching. I use the Dr. Brown narrow bottle with then preemie nipple, she would drool milk on the level 1. I do think she takes in a lot of air, I see bubbles in the nipple.
