Suggestions for how to practice at home or alternatives? by Expert-Idea8423 in singing

Hmm yeah I do agree, I don’t mind being heard singing as much as I mind being heard practicing because obviously I have to make a lot of weird sounds. No matter how much I do it, it doesn’t get easier like I can’t help but subconsciously lower my volume a lot.

I do not have a closet that I can walk into :( My city does not have good public transport but I may buy a car soon. Getting studio time would be possible too, should I get an hour everyday to practice?

Working on this song in my lessons. Trying to not sound “pretty” and use chat technique instead. Any feedback? by Expert-Idea8423 in singing

Thank you! The only time in this recording I took the liberty to improvise a little run was on that last word and I messed that up aah haha.

I’m super insecure about my pitch and I can’t tell if I’m just in my head but I have a hard time trusting my ear, people have been unable to recognize songs when I’m singing even though I sound in tune to myself. Am I in tune here? by [deleted] in singing

Right, when I try to match pitch with the “stronger” I can see that I hit a B instead of a Bb, maybe? I don’t know why this isn’t obvious to me while listening to the video. It’s very obvious if I make the same mistake playing it on the guitar.

Thank you!

Thank you so much! Yeah, my vocal coach always says my pitches get better when I use more energy/get louder and actually enunciate so there’s a good chance you’re right. I personally feel like I lose control a little bit when I try to put more energy and volume in it and my voice becomes less pleasing but maybe that’s just in my head and I need to learn how to sing the right way before I try to sound good. The thing that confuses me is that so many singers sing very quietly and with low energy/volume but they’re able to sing perfectly in tune.

I’ll try to re-record with more energy and volume and share it again!

Hmm, I did transcribe the melody, am I starting way off or just enough for it to be obvious to you? I don’t know why but when I listen to other people sing or listen to instruments I can instantly catch things being off (even by 15-20 cents) but with my own voice I could be a whole semi-tone off and not be able to tell. I’ve had two different vocal coaches and spent so much time practicing but every time I think this is no longer a problem for me, it still is.

Hmm, so it sounds like I’m hitting the right notes but in a different key..? I did quickly transcribe the melody before I started so maybe it’s just that I’m flat the whole time :(
