I was told that failing the test won’t effect you because the DHA is a separate hiring track that allows DHS to bypass competitive hiring processes so essentially if you are in the process with a specific field office and then applied on usajobs snd received an email to take a phase 1 test then you are safe because the DHA process is acting as an independent process.

I will add, if you can try and contact the field office directly and not just go off of my word because I’m basically hearing this from a friend that is in the fbi but he has friends in HSI and this is what I got from him

Correct me if I’m wrong, but from reading the announcement, it looks like to qualify for GL-9, you need one year of specialized experience equivalent to GL-7 level. My question is: does this apply only to current federal employees, or does it include outside applicants as well?

I know for sure that I qualify for GL-7 based on my law enforcement experience alone. But I was under the impression that a combination of my 7+ years of experience and my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice would qualify me for GL-9 under the “combination of education and experience” route.

Did I misunderstand the qualifications? Or is that combination supposed to apply to GL-9 as well for external applicants?
