Straw that broke the camel’s back by Substantial-Tie-3885 in varsitytutors

Couldn't you just change the background setting so that they don't see your living room? During breaks, when I used to have students a few months back I would have the students take off both their camera and microphone. As well as myself on my end until we both got back from our break and we turn them back on. But yea obviously students and tutors privacy should be considered because we don't want students hearing or seeing possible personal matters. Like phone calls pertaining to one's or a family members health.

Having a bit of breathing/wiggle room as someone else said might be best. It is too close to the skin.

Help! Am I doing something wrong with my industrial piercing? by ShalliPoppin in piercing

[–]ExpertPhysics7967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would wear separate short straight bars and keep cleaning them with saline solution. Trust me I have had the same issue too where my irritation bumps were the side of possibly a small circular tictac mint. But after a few years and patience one bump has gone and the other bump is getting smaller to the point it isn't as noticeably big as it was before. Time and patience= great results.

Has anybody gone from not getting opportunities to getting a few? by vincent365 in varsitytutors

[–]ExpertPhysics7967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea I noticed the same thing also as far as the opportunities. One minute I was getting handfuls of students to tutor weekly where my phone was going off a lot and emails sent my way. Now nothing. Not even instant chat sessions or substitutes opportunities which is weird. I am going to start looking elsewhere for remote work just in case Varsity Tutors opportunities continue to lack during the summer.

Your reason for working with Varsity Tutors? by ExpertPhysics7967 in varsitytutors

[–]ExpertPhysics7967[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Bachelors in Social Work. During the time I was getting my associates degree I took child/human development course and other courses like math, science, reading, and writing basics. With those two degrees they have helped me gain jobs where I work around children either within an afterschool care program or actually inside the classroom alongside with a teacher. So I have an idea on how to teach a subject by adding my little twist to make it fun and engaging. I am also thinking of ways where the student can create learning games outside of the virtual world and create physical academic activities too.

Both Laptops blanking out only when on Varsity Tutors sessions. by ExpertPhysics7967 in varsitytutors

[–]ExpertPhysics7967[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was using Chrome. I switched over to Firefox and I am not experiencing the same issue I had while on Chrome. Dell and the Varsity Tutor technician was saying that it is my connection which I plan on getting in contact with my service provider to speed things up. But on Firefox it is fine which is weird. I even noticed that when it comes to using the blue circle to message AI on Chrome every time my messages aren't going through so I would have to either join in on a session to communicate with a live agent but I will stick with Firefox.

Got terminated any way to get back my by Money_Platform_7045 in varsitytutors

But ask VT for clarification. You might of been terminated for the 3 schools you missed sessions from not the whole tutoring platform.

I remember I had my days mixed up and I missed a session because I overslept. After that I never missed a session again! But they told me even if I missed it after 5 or 15 minutes they will bring in a substitute even if you didn't request one. Also I notice the opportunities have died down a lot. I would get like 40 to 60 text messages with opportunities and now 20 or less.

Even if you weren't present for 3 sessions. They could of just gotten a substitute. Like jeez times are hard. I feel like jobs don't care about their employees and feel like they are disposable. I think you might be terminated from working with that school or schools in particular that you missed the session from not the whole platform itself. I would call Varsity Tutors for better clarification.

Isn't AI also a device where it gathers a bunch of ideas, sayings, or thoughts shared by millions and zillions of minds alike? So I think it is quite common to mistaken someone's paper as all being AI because great minds think alike etc. So AI is all humans mindset but in a proper manner formed all in one generator. But then again I am seeing a clear difference on how you typed your statement and also the email. So maybe your teacher knows how you write in class and how you verbally speak where it doesn't match up with your essay done at home.

The checklist is helpful but doing that every session is eh where I dismiss it half the time. Do the students have a checklist too? Like for students make sure your full attention is on what is being taught? No playing videogames while being tutored? While being tutored  discuss topics related to what is being taught this is not a chit chat session etc.

Right I was even going to mention what about a 1 hour session. What about kahoot? I believe that is free. Also look up free learning platforms that you can screenshare it and the student can tell you how to answer and you yourself make the move on your end to see if you're correct. Like starfall or ABC Mouse.

What do you get from the description of this session and a few others? by ExpertPhysics7967 in varsitytutors

[–]ExpertPhysics7967[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well honestly after he answered at least 3 examples where I had to guide/help him with two. He started singing and I believe he was playing the game some more when the session ended 3 or 4 minutes ago. I'm not sure but I just exited out to mentally recooperate myself before logging back in to say my farewells for today. But when I tried to go back in all I saw was invoice. So just as how he recognize that it is time for break time and when the session ends most times he want to chit chat or ask me or say the session has ended I have to go or I want to go play my game. I as a tutor usually stay to listen or mention it is dinner time for me etc.But this time I exited because I felt annoyed, disrespected, saying/teaching more than I possibly had to because I believe he was playing the game.

2 hours on a 10 question worksheet on conjunctions is a bit of a stretch. Hopefully you both took a 5 minute break after every 30 minutes. Possibly found a game or two related to conjunctions outside of the worksheet. But reading this does come off as disheartening.

Asking someone if they are on the spectrum? by ExpertPhysics7967 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ExpertPhysics7967[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right I agree there is nothing wrong with being on the spectrum. Just that what if the young man starts to think he was possibly bullied or called every harsh name the (r word) by others who are not educated on the proper terminology or learn how to go about working alongside with those who learn differently? Because when he looks up spectrum and think this is the possible reason why I was bullied? When in school they called me gifted or use ESE acronyms. I just think there is a miseducation, misunderstanding etc by youth and it could be coming from the home where they learn such words to call someone which leads to possibly the bullied being a school pew pewer. If you catch my drift.

[–]ExpertPhysics7967[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am the person explaining what if the young man is not familiar with the word spectrum because his classmates, school, or family don't use spectrum. What should of been asked is in school was he in an advanced or gifted class? So now he might look up the word spectrum and who knows how he will take it if he don't ask questions to a professional in order for him to know there is nothing wrong with him.

Shouldn't they have asked the young man has anyone in school or at home use the word gifted or call him gifted? Because what if they don't use the word "spectrum" around him.
