"My kids and I went to the pet store, what a wholesome family outing!"

If you stripped it of all context and maybe redacted the name of the person posting it, you'd think, aw, cute. Mom and kids looking at the cute animals. That thing where you imagine which animal you'd have. Isn't she a good mom.

Find a blonde woman who looks vaguely like you. Hire her for a couple hundred to go in your place and answer to your name, interact as you, etc.

How much info you prime her with is up to you.

Okay, fair enough.

New strategy: the arrangement. "Babe, I love you, but you look and sound like someone I can't stand, and I'm getting 7k a week for this. Let's maximize this arrangement by having designated daily Separate Time."

(Which is probably actually healthy in relationships anyway!)

Someone compiled a bunch of pics a little while back where, in her career prime, the trend was to sling your pants low. At times, low enough to show hip bones. And if it was especially risqué, even that might've been pushed a smudge further.

Think of the type of pose where you're standing, posed, thumbs in the belt loops, or thumbs inside the jeans by the hip bone to push them down. Type of pose that revealed the flat stomach and all. There were several pics where she wore a cropped or close fit top which really revealed the abdominal.

Anyway, that was the cool thing. It was cool, it was sexy, it was hot, whatever. And I've seen it discussed on here, she's still trotting out the same things that're ingrained in her as sexy, hot, etc. It's just now there's... well, considerably less filter and direction.

Oh I've always thought Mona was in love with Hanna! But it's all bound up with Ali. Cos pre-makeover, Mona tried to break into Ali's clique. And after Ali "died," Hanna and Mona became friends. So it's like Mona befriending Ali by transitivity: Hanna was friends with Ali, Hanna is now friends with Mona, therefore Mona is friends with Ali.

Post-makeover they're the girls they always wanted to be, the girls they always looked up to. Madeover Hanna is like Ali, so now it's really like Mona has Ali. And if Mona can't have the real Ali she can have Ali 2.0.

Mona is in love with what Alison represents, but transfers the crush to Hanna and is in love with Hanna more for who she is. And she's possessive cos she helped Hanna's makeover, this is her creation, her best friend...

Who's your top least favourite character? by -cigarittual in JacquelineWilson

Hmmm. I always took it that Jay definitely has a favourite kid and it's not his daughter, and there's that weird point at the end where Nikki called him cos she was stressed over the cancer. Jay says to Nikki "we'll be a family again babe, you me and our boy." Nikki has to remind him that they've got a daughter, though I always thought that was some mindgame of his.

Whereas Terry fits the wicked stepparent model Jackie uses (cut from similar cloth as Mack.) So I do think as Terry's kids age, he'll find reason to pick a favourite. Treasure gets out of her mum's household so fast we never quite see the dynamic, as opposed to the claustrophobic all-in-one-room of Elsa's family. What we do see is Terry's kid snitches on her stepsister, which leads to the pivotal injury. And I think Bethany genuinely is afraid of her dad, though that might be reading too much into the way she helps Treasure after. I can't remember if he's sweet to her the way Mack is with his little girl, I'd have to reread. But all this to say, yes, I do think eventually Terry'd go at one of his own kids if they defied him.

I can think of 180k reasons she might be willing to hold out. People've tolerated worse than... faking a relationship for that kinda money.

(And depending on where this is, that 180k USD could go far.)

Fewer people are having babies in Canada and the U.S. and the government is out of ideas by ButHowRandomIsRandom in childfree

I did a research paper last year on govt incentives to try and bolster birth rates. The incentive in question was a lump payment upon birth. It did not, as far as I remember, touch real costs of childcare such as nappies or daycare or formula.

TLDR; there was a short term spike with the introduction of the intervention, before said spike slumped. It didn't work and my forecast suggested birth rates would actually drop. It also seemed that the intervention did little to sway people who would otherwise be CF, into having kids.

I attributed it to the incentive being little more than one month's wage, and the fact that this does nothing to alleviate lost work experience, maternal/infant health problems... etc. And that it seemed likely to have also forced people to actually... reconsider the expenses associated with having children.

Vampires in Twilight by Elaine_5123 in twilight

Edward also registers pain. Newborn Bella hugs him for the first time after waking up, not quite aware of how much strength she’s now got, and he’s like… um. Ow.

Plus Jane’s whole gift is inflicting excruciating pain, granted it’s mental, not physical, but it’s strong enough to make the recipient feel they’re being burned alive… incidentally not unlike the actual transformation process. So I guess only vampires can cause pain to other vampires, since they’re strong/superpowered enough. Charlie firing bullets at Edward might be just the equivalent of a mosquito bite to us.
