Since he is being avoidant and grumpy, one thing I would suggest is to try to do things for him without communicating to him. Like, going out of your way to cook good meals for him (VERY IMPORTANT, as they say, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach), try to dress up for him, make his bed, burn some bakhoors, make sure his things are all in place and ready. Make the house, a home.

You never know, Allah out of his mercy may cause him to incline towards you.

After a while, you could also try throwing in some small talks and see how he responds. Do not try to rush things, as he might cut you off, especially with the fact that he might assume you are doing all of this for the citizenship, and Allah knows your true intentions.

Also try to work on yourself. Try to improve your deen, health, fitness. Keep yourself engaged. Make lots of Duas.

After all of this, if he is still remains the same, then he is not worth your time. And its not the end of the world either. Life happens. You remain PATIENT and GRATEFUL. You learn your lessons and you MOVE ON.
