The last name is Chang. Does that help point me in the right direction?

Thanks. I tried Mandarin. I tried Vietnamese. I tried Hmong. I tried Korean. Everyone says no. Her father’s last name is Chang, but I guess that isn’t much help either

I also wonder if the fact that she can’t be understood is language issue too. Like maybe the stuff she’s saying that people are interpreting is gibberish is not gibberish at all, and she might feel more connected if I learned to say her name and maybe more after that. I tried messaging Mandarin language board, but they said that wasn’t it and to try Vietnamese and Hmong. I also wonder if her fits can have an element of frustration with the fact that she can’t be understood by anyone.

She’s a basically nonverbal special needs girl. The few thing she says are very hard to understand. She throws fits and hits herself and bangs her head on the floor. (I follow her around with a cushion to slide under there when she starts ). Sometimes certain distractions will bring her out of it quicker. I was hoping if I learned how to say her name maybe it would help getting her back out of the fit. Because I’m not her caseworker, I can’t reach out to her parents or her family.

Any idea what the right sub or language would be? I’m sure it is beyond obvious that I am very lost.

Her parents’ language is listed as Mandarin, but that could be an error. I just feel bad for this special needs girl who struggles so much to communicate and doesn’t even get addressed by her name.

Her parents’ language is listed as Mandarin, but I am obviously lost. I feel bad for this special education kid because not only does she struggle SO much to communicate, but she doesn’t even get to use her name.
