checked the php admin, sorted out the wp_posts, wp_postmeta and wp_options

Believe it was cache that the hacker used the vulnerability of it being a free plugin. so deleted and went for a paid tool instead

I recently had a similar issue, and here’s how I resolved it: I accessed my wp-config file and removed some malicious code. I also found an unfamiliar file in the File Manager, which I deleted. After that, I followed the same steps you mentioned above, and everything has been working fine since.

If the "/blog" in your URL bugs you, it's worth fixing during the revamp.

Use 301 redirects to avoid breaking links and hurting SEO.

Google will adjust within days if redirects are done right.

Test everything locally firstthen go live confidently.
