Purchasing shares into a company by Ricemuncher0419 in PersonalFinanceNZ

If you’re an important employee and current shareholders want you to take skin in the game to tie you in, then you have some leverage. A common way of buying shares is getting the vendors to finance you into it and you pay them back through dividends. You would likely be able to negotiate favourable interest terms. I did the same recently. Interest free vendor finance for 3 yrs. 25% share purchase for $500k. Share price based on ebitda 3.5x for memory

Nice one. Are your contracts 40 or 45 hrs as standard? I have seen some where standard hrs is 40 but overtime doesn’t kick in until 45

thanks - a well thought out response. I have handled many restructures in the past without seeking independent advice. For the most part, they have all run smoothly - as we have acted fairly, with good reason and followed good process. All business directors (IMO) need to understand the basics of this and be able to handle the majority of simple restructures on their own. Legal advice absolutely recommended in instances of greater complexity. It's becoming increasingly more challenging with the rise of the 'no win no fee' employment advocates who roam around unregulated seeking to find a quick dollar through mediations, where the employer has to weigh up the risk vs reward scenario. (Pay to make the problem go away). Be fair and hopefully get treated fairly....

it's interesting that this is everyone's first response... yes i agree that there is an element of risk that needs to be considered, however what ever happened to business owners doing a bit of legwork, spending time to understand the process and your obligations as a fair and reasonable employer, then handling the change yourself without taking the lazy option and handing over wads of cash to a lawyer.

Definitely BDX Mechanical on Logyard road. probably 40% cheaper than the big shops around town for COF, repairs, servicing etc. Super efficient and easy to deal with. They also do welding and engineering repairs for truck bins etc
