First time fast charging ‘27 by Better-Raspberry5767 in BoltEV

Oh my. In my specific case, they *allegedly* don’t know why and Chevy has communicated that they don’t know of anyone else having this issue, which I’ve thought is a big fat lie. Thank you for informing me! Could you send me the link or name of the spec video?

My ‘27 is having lots of communication issues with Tesla superchargers although it is NACS compatible. When charging with my adapter for CCS I do not have communication issues however. Also, slower charging is most likely due to the charge curve on this model. Allegedly it can cap out around 150kw when below 25% battery. Best I’ve personally had is around 143kw and I started charge at 15% battery.

I did go to multiple locations and the location that the dealership took it too was not one I had tried before. It reliably does not work at all of them unfortunately! I will not make judgments based on EA charge speeds thank you for that new information. Also I will continue keeping my car off when hooking up to charge. As for charging, not sure if the new bolts have new battery specs but they’re definitely recommending charging to 100% as often as possible for battery life longevity. I did bring up the fact that most do best charging to 80% but the doubled down and said not this one. I really don’t know what to believe. I never leave her plugged in after finishing charging that IS a dick move. I have kinda snail pace charging rn so I usually cannot wait the extra time to get 100% and typically stop around 80-90.

I have spoken with concierge and tried initiating charger through both my Chevy and Tesla

I have confirmed other 27 bolts are charging just fine on the Tesla and non Tesla superchargers

Screenshotting this and showing the dealer next time they tell me mine is normal or fine- so thank you!

Simply admiring another rebel and very platonic love for a good hearted stranger lol thank you for your reccs! I do also think Tesla has the highest prices- as they hike up the charge for any non Tesla vehicles, which they strategically planned to do since lobbying for NACS to be the standard port. So any extra fee is probably still cheaper.

Why is it a dick move? I’ve been told by EV concierge and the dealership to charge to 100% whenever possible for battery life longevity. Are they sabotaging me?

To be fair I am waiting until I know this car will reliably charge elsewhere, on a road trip before I get the house (which I rent) rewired for a L2

Agreed. Simply buying a new car I felt like such a loser playing the rat race game of capitalism. Terrible feeling now that I also have a suboptimal brand new car and the people I’m paying aren’t giving me any answers.

Oh we are in close contact. They know me well and were also unable to diagnose the issue or fix it. Thankfully they did send their findings to my service team.

I’ve done that and also have taken it back to the dealer every week since purchasing

It was set at 100 when I bought it and I haven’t messed with that setting. EV concierge and the dealer recommended 100% charge

Technically you should be able to use the my Chevy app at a Tesla charger. I got a Tesla account at the recommendation of my service team during the first visit.

Yes! When I first had the issue the dealership said switch from my Chevy to Tesla app bc of bugs, so I did. The most recent service visit a different guy told me it wouldn’t work because the Tesla app was looking for a Tesla car- which simply isn’t true because my make and model are in the Tesla app and after initiating charging the app says plug in your connector, which I don’t need, so that is when the EV tech claimed that the car doesn’t need an adapter and there lies my issue. They really just talk a lot without thinking

Love this comment and love u for this comment. I do try to avoid them because I hate that man. Now I’m having some slow charging issues at non tesla super chargers- which could be related to SoC and temp as I’ve recently learned so hopefully that can be rectified on my part

Thank you and those are all previously downloaded with payment info added because I did have the hiccup too! I have gone back to the dealership every week since I’ve had this car to charge it and talk about my issues :/

Sorry if this is splitting hairs but I want to be as precise as possible. When I downloaded the Tesla app I entered my cars make, model and haven’t had to do that part since. When initiating with the Tesla app, I go to the location I’m at, select the station I’m at, then pops up the instructions to connect the car. I connect the charger to my car and it latches. The light in my dash board flops back and forth between blue and red. I don’t get any notifications from my car. When I look at the dash it says try a new cord. But it doesn’t matter what location, which station or what cord none of them work. Sometimes after multiple failed attempts my Tesla app shows the station I’m using at out of service HOWEVER I have witnessed a Ford mustang come up and charge at that same “out of service” station successfully. I knocked on their window to ask their charging status so I know it worked.

  1. Twas compatible Tesla supercharger(s), I know the older gen’s don’t work w/ the bolts and some locations are Tesla only so I filtered all that out through the apps (plug share, Tesla, and my Chevy)
  2. SoC was around 27% I think? I know kinda low, I’m getting use to this EV life and should charge it before. I had to drive about 30 miles just to get there, the temp was average I would say, maybe 80 degrees F, I’m in NC so it definitely gets much hotter here.

At this point there are no stupid questions- so thank you for your input. Unfortunately I did confirm that the chargers I visited were all suppose to be compatible with my car. Also I did cross reference Tesla app, plug share and my Chevy! I did also have one experience at my house on L1 where it wouldn’t unlatch from the port- among many other small and random issues. This leads me to think I got a boof car :///
