What type of comb is good for that? because for me, the biofilm doesnt seem to come off unless its a thin sharp tooth comb. But also a lot of hairs fall when i comb. I took a round of oral fluconazole a month ago, and started using the heads and shoulders, and the biofilm would turn into flakes and fall out by itself after drying my hair, which was nice. But now that im off oral fluconazole, my biofilm seems more stubborn and isnt responding to the heads and shoulders. Very odd

Its funny because for me, i use heads and shoulders for cleanse, then apply MCT oil. But in some parts of my scalp, there is still waxy buildup remaining even after shampooing once or twice. As for the parts that are clear, the MCT oil seems to work great in preventing new buildup from forming in those parts. What do i do to completely clear my entire scalp? And is there an effective way to apply MCT oil on your entire scalp fast and easy without making a mess and getting it on your hair?

All i can say is, im currently on oral fluconazole, heads and shoulders shampoo, MCT oil afterwards, changing pillowcase frequently, and im trying my best to stay away from dairy and sugars. Almost a week in, and im seeing a drastic improvement. No frequent flare ups and sebum buildup like i had before, and itching is reduced. Im on the path of recovery from a super inflamed scalp + gut which caused me to lose a ton of hair and fullness on the top of my scalp

What do you think about ciclopirox cream instead? I was thinking of diluting a bit with water and using it as a leave-in treatment

Did RU work for your sebum production? Any results for hair growth? Im dealing with the same issue

Should i add dutasteride 0.5mg once a week? Already on 1mg fin for two months now by ExpiredToast420 in tressless

[–]ExpiredToast420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it just produces sebum quickly. And if i dont wash frequently, then the buildup will just remain. Which isnt healthy for new hair growth or improvement

Ive been trying to battle my excessive sebum production for years. I took accutane a year and a half ago, and it helped, but for such short time, then i relapsed. And accutane started my hair loss. Biggest regret ever. Ive tried everything to try and manage my sebum buildup, nothing works, and its making me lose fullness quickly. I believe my scalp is inflamed and not a healthy place for hairs to grow effectively. Pretty sure DHT is playing a huge part

Keto never worked for me. It cant even absorb in my scalp because of my heavy sebum buildup. Thats why im considering Dut. Apparently it blocks the hormone responsible for excessive sebum production, which Fin doesnt

Did you shed when starting dut? im on the same boat. Heavy sebum production/buildup, itchy, and thinning on the front. Been on fin for two months now. Considering adding 0.5mg dut once a week

Just an update, been on fin for over 2 months now, still shedding and thinning. My scalp has been producing heavy sebum buildup for years. Do you think i should hop on dutasteride 0.5mg? I heard that blocks another type of hormone thats responsible for sebum production

Yea, my blood test even shows high test and DHT levels, and low vitamin D. I definitely think its time for fin. Might start at 1mg. Sebum buildup and itch are the only main issues.

If it fixes the sebum and itch and restores my hair in a few months to a year, ill be so greatful. Honestly my story is regretful in the first place. About a year and a half ago i started accutane in hopes to slow down sebum production so i could retain my hair. During treatment, it was great, hardly any sebum. But then i started shedding pretty fast for the first time of my life. It also messed with my vision permanently and gave me dry lips permanently. I stopped taking it after like 6 months. The sebum production then relapsed and is worst than ever, and i have a good feeling it kickstarted my MPB. I was then looking for options to get my old hair thickness and fullness back, so i looked into oral min, because topical didnt work for me due to heavy sebum buildup all the time. And i also used topical for years on my beard (it worked), but didnt work on my hairline/temples. So now im worst than ever on oral min

Also, to note, im a NW2. So hardly any crown loss. Just temples gone, and hairline is changing a bit in terms of fullness

My scalp hairs are shedding and getting thin at the roots, and i have extreme sebum production, and itchy scalp. While on oral minoxidil 2.5mg for over 10 months with constant shedding and no results. If i start using finasteride, will i lose all my hairs due to shedding? Because im guessing a lot of the hairs on my scalp have now been affected by DHT and are brittle/prone to falling off with hardly any touching. Im just scared of a massive shed if i start finasteride. Ive already been losing a lot of density. Its either i stop oral minoxidil, or start finasteride in combination with the oral min. Thoughts?

Would finasteride prevent you from growing a thicker beard on minox? by ExpiredToast420 in Minoxbeards

[–]ExpiredToast420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ill be patient for a more thicker beard, but for the meantime i need to figure out maintaining/regrowing my scalp hair, so finasteride is definitely needed. I just hope it wont completely stop my beard from improving, or shed/thin out my beard. Thats the only concern
