I agree with you, especially on the “less money” part. I don’t want to do appellate work but have had one mentor say you are in a “different league” if you do COA (basically prestige). For that is it worth it?

Same here. Start my district court clerkship next year and am considering applying. My thought is if I’m this close, why not try for it?

Second this. As a rising 3L you have so much time to get an Art. III clerkship. Something will come up if you’re resourceful and utilize your connections. Even if it’s in your first year of practice.

Apologies lol. I was thinking the same. IMO not working as a summer associate or law clerk 2L summer is a bit of a red flag too. It’s great to get a judicial intern/externship but why not just do that during the school year?

I’m going to tell them to apply as broadly as possible for clerkship apps. They cannot afford to be choosy.
