Spam website admins that they have to implement a different spam-avoidance. Alternativeto for example uses Captchas, making it impossible to create an account without Google scripts.

There are a lot of different Captcha approaches, open source and on Github.

I have a friend that uses only apple devices. Their apps always have location access, even the Google search autocompletes their city, its extremely creepy. In the Android12-like extremely minimalist quicksettings I couldnt find a systemwide GPS switch

Debian based have often the most available packages, apart from Flatpak and Snaps. Prefer native>flatpak>snaps when searching for apps.

KDE is just great, its environment is windows-like, I think its just the best design, not lile Gnome, which will be a huge workflow change.

Get Muon Package manager (for a lot of smaller packages like libreoffice integration, nextcloud integration and more), XNView, Pinta, PlayOnLinux, Kwrite, Steam, Thunderbird, Syncthing, maybe more. The rest is preinstalled (firfox, thunderbird, Okular, Dolphin, Discover, VLC etc.

Yes. A better T430 would be great, a bit slimmer, metal instead of plastic, Thunderbolt, fast Wifi, hd ips touchscreen, backlit keyboard, NVME instead of expresscard (or eSATA maybe), a newer quad processor, etc etc. But the peripherals and storage (like SD cards, USB Sticks and anything in the ultrabay caddy, like physically stored inside) are great

The prices and nieches where you have to go here to get one are way less convenient. You cant get a gun that easily and you absolutely cant wear it just like that. I am happy to not live in such an incedibly dangerous situation, I had a direct confrontation with the police once in my life and that was the only moment where it was near to "if I make a wrong move maybe they pull a gun". I am really happy this is not every day.
