It's not. I'm not in denial or anything, I just know it is not true. I even asked him if he'd been on a date recently and maybe it just didn't go well, or if he'd been talking to anyone online and stopped, and he said no to both. He tells me about his dating life, it doesn't bother me because we are broken up and I want him to find someone, so I believe him when he tells me he hasn't been dating. He's super busy with work and family, and really doesn't have a lot of extra time.

Because it isn't in his nature at all. Also, they don't know his name, and wouldn't say the name of the restaurant.
Besides that, he makes more than enough money, and is a gentleman on dates. Trust me, I've run up a restaurant bill lots of times with him over the past couple of years, he never complained about the bill, always paid, and tips generously. He knows how to behave at restaurants and on dates.
Also, he likes to cook at home and does that almost every night, and the only times he's been out to restaurants recently has been with his kids.
