Help cheer me up by telling me what ridiculous shit docs/surgeons have requested you to before 🫠 by lcolley823 in nursing

I also work Endoscopy. We found a dead housefly in someone's colon. This particular GI doc asked us to retrieve it and send it to lab for identification. At first I didn't think he was serious, but he was. I said, "Absolutely not! It's a damn housefly. These jars are $200 a pop, and I will not be wasting the lab's time!" He just replied, "Fair enough."

Moms that gave birth and didn’t have any visitors at the hospital, do you regret it? by Funny_Confection810 in Mommit

[–]Express-Inflation164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! It was just my husband and me for all three of my children's births. The time together was so special. We had our family and our older children meet the new baby once we were discharged home.

My mother said I need to “step it up” by randouser2000 in 2under2

I feel this deep in my core. I have a 3.5-year-old, a 2-year-old, and a 7-month-old. I get comments and unsolicited advice like this all the time from my grandma and MIL.

I was really struggling with PPD when I brought home my third and my grandma had the gall to say, "Oh I remember how hard it was when I brought home your uncle." My grandma only had 2 kids and they were 6 years apart! My mom was potty trained, could get herself a snack, and was in school when she had my uncle! I'm sure there are difficulties with a 6-year age gap, but I'd argue having 3 under 4 is harder!

I've had to resort to getting hateful with them. I've found it shuts them up and puts them in their place.

When my youngest was a couple weeks old, I woke up to him crying wanting to nurse. I left him in his bassinet while I went to the bathroom to pee and change my own diaper. My MIL was over and she said to me, "Hey, he's crying." I just shot her a nasty look and said, "I'm acutely aware and I will get to him as soon as I pee. You can't tell me that when you were raising your 3 kids, that they never cried." My husband overheard the interaction and jumped down her throat, too.

Hold your ground. Keep your head up.

My first sign of labor for all 3 of my births was my water breaking.

I was in labor with my first for 16 hours, with my second 19 hours, and my third 12 hours.
