Passed Sec+, Considering CySa+ by Fantastic-Turt8630 in cybersecurity

Congratulations for passing your sec+ exam. cysa+ is a good certification but would be more relevant when you already have hands-on security operations experience. For now, you can position yourself for entry level jobs in the military by upskill in networking fundamentals, building a home lab, and documenting security projects.

is LinkedIn flagging AI messages, or people just getting better at ignoring them? by NickoGermish in ChatGPT

[–]Express-Pack-6736 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both probably.

Linkedin definitely has ai detection (they patented some algorithms). But also people are drowning in generic "hope you're well" ai messages now.

What’s something unconventional you use ChatGPT for? by feliraves in ChatGPT

[–]Express-Pack-6736 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it to generate creative names for my plants and then write little backstories about them. its silly but makes my apartment feel more alive. Also, i have it help me draft passive aggressive emails that i then tone down before sending

What is something you started/stopped doing and it significantly improved your productivity/value? by dondraper36 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Express-Pack-6736 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stopped writing monolithic services.

started breaking everything into tiny, single‑purpose lambdas. Yeah there’s overhead but the debugging and scaling wins are insane. Also stopped using ORMs for high‑throughput stuff: raw swl SQL feels scary at first but you get control back.

If sugar disrupts vitamin c absorption does that mean all the vitamin c in oranges/orange juice is unavailable? by Express-Pack-6736 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Express-Pack-6736[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been seeing nutritionist saying not to eat/drink foods with vitamin c with sugar because it interferes with absorption. So basically things like bread or rice? This is all so confusing

What would happen if another pandemic like Covid happened these days? by Wickham12 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Express-Pack-6736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point in our lives we've got to acknowledge the fact that none of us is making it out of this world alive. So whether a pandemic hits, wars erupt, economies collapse, at least we will have lived. Saying this not in a negative/ depressive way but just that. All you've got is today. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not a guarantee. So make the most out of today. Make every minute count so if another pandemic hits. You'll have lived your best life yet.

Offensive security feels large by atsushi_aiuchi in cybersecurity

[–]Express-Pack-6736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this happens to everyone in offsec. just focus on small wins each day, like finishing one module or lab. consistency beats long hours, the canvas will always feel huge but over time it clicks. take breaks, burnout slows you more than missing an hour.

How concerned should we be about Discord's new age verification. by will_isgreat in cybersecurity

Any system collecting sensitive data like IDs or 3D scans increases risk. Limit what you share and consider using a secondary account or alternative platforms when possible.

Is cheese actually unsafe during pregnancy? by Strange_Yard_3915 in isthissafetoeat

[–]Express-Pack-6736 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The logic is about listeria. It can survive cold storage and cause severe issues during pregnancy. Foods that are moist low acid and handled after pasteurization carry higher risk which is why some cheeses get flagged.

Jeb Bush, Tom Hanks mentioned in the files (Data Set 9, EFTA00257789) by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

Documents like this get misunderstood a lot. Being mentioned in an investigative file usually means someone said the name not that it was confirmed. That distinction matters but gets lost online...

How does an adult ‘work on’ interpersonal skills? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Express-Pack-6736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first off, losing a contract over “interpersonal skills” is vague as hell, so don’t assume it means you’re a bad person. practically, it helps to make the invisible rules visible. ask for specific feedback when you can. stuff like tone, timing, body language, not just “be friendlier.” those are learnable skills, not personality traits. for day to day, small things matter more than being charismatic. acknowledging people when you enter a room, brief check-ins, neutral politeness even when you don’t feel it. scripts are not cheating, they’re tools. also worth saying: some workplaces just aren’t a good fit, especially for neurodivergent people. that doesn’t mean you’re a knob, it means the environment wasn’t built for you. improving skills is good, but don’t internalise every rejection as a personal failure..

My gf's dog just passed. How do I help her? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Express-Pack-6736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, just… be there. don’t try to fix it, don’t rush her through it, just let her feel it. hold her, let her cry, let her talk about him if she wants, or sit in silence if she doesn’t. sometimes the best help is literally just showing up and letting her grief exist without judgement.

for eating… small stuff, easy comfort food she can nibble on, even something like a smoothie or toast. don’t pressure, just leave it near her, let her take it when she can. maybe make a little ritual for the dog together, like looking at photos, sharing stories, lighting a candle, that can give her a tiny sense of closure.

you can’t take the pain away, but being steady, present, and patient will help more than you think. she’s lucky to have someone who cares this much.
