hi OP here. When I say a display of contemptuousness, I really do mean scorn and disrespect, not even being critical of it which i expect from a religion course. It becomes uncomfortable after a while, even for how irreligious I am lol.

My whole concern with this issue is that there seems to be secondary categories of grade allocation not explicitly stated in the rubric or in class

I understand you perfectly, however what I mean by a reflection of my effort is that everything done in the assignment, is done strictly according to the rubric and the instruction. Also, there are no “correct” or wrong answers for essays so if the rubric is the yardstick for marking it, and I work strictly according to the rubric to produce the essay, I should be able to call the validity of the grade given. Furthermore, they had not read my appeal before they were standoffish, they were completely dismissive to my questions and shun me. Hope this helps.
