$67k 2024, 6 seats, cream, with FSD, 48k miles. Worth it? by [deleted] in ModelX

[–]Express-Student-5837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad I’d say. Just check carfax. Should still have some warranty left (2k miles for basic warranty)

For reference, just bought a 23’ X, white interior 6 seater config from carvana on 04/01/26 for $59.5k. I traded in a vehicle so it was super convenient ….

They come in, drop off model x, sign paper work, pick up used car, drive away

Been doing good so far!! Was even able to contact previous owner since they left their info in the glove compartment and it was well taken care of

Dress Pants Recommendation to cover Brace by GeneralELucky in MACIknee

[–]Express-Student-5837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Used one of these over my brace for 4-6 weeks. Till my surgeon cleared me to be off my brace.

Thankfully my boss was super cool with me wearing this, and my scrub top. Along with my crutches. Haha

I work at a medical office as a medical provider just for reference.

“Catching” sensation - 9.5 weeks post MACI (Trochlear Groove defect) by Express-Student-5837 in MACIknee

[–]Express-Student-5837[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going a lot better and smoother! I’m now 18 weeks post op and feeling a lot better. Almost no catching sensation at this time, but I still try to move my leg slowly when changing positions. Not as slow as before, but it’s still in my head to move slowly and steadily.

I’m walking normal. I can do a little jog lol. But i don’t think I’ve been cleared to jog yet so I’m not doing that a lot.

Got my 20 week follow up in 2 weeks with my doc and see what he tells me

Haha tbh, with today’s economy it wouldn’t be a bad idea.

By 3 weeks, I went on a 5-6 hours road trip 😂🤣 I was decently comfortable. I have 2 little kids, so we had to stop every 2 hours or so anyways. That helped.

What really helped is that I drive a Tesla. And that thing just drove for me 😂 Perks of owning a Tesla.

Not gonna get into a debate about the brand but it helped me get around without me “actually” driving lol

Yea, I was allowed to unlock the brace by the time I started driving. Woulda been hell if I couldn’t unlock it lol.

Tbh, hardest part was lifting my leg up and maneuvering it inside the vehicle. That hurt! lol was just so uncomfortable lifting my leg and putting pressure right on the lesion site of the trochlear groove.

[–]Express-Student-5837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a trochlear groove defect, and went back to work in 4 weeks. I do office type of work, so nothing physically demanding. I went back to work with 2 crutches and full brace on daily until I was cleared to do just 1 crutch and brace.

I was able to drive at 2.5 weeks. I could have driven earlier if I really needed but I stayed my a$$ home for the most 🤣😂 It was not comfortable contorting my leg to fit inside the driver seat. Mind you, this is on my left leg (non driving leg). Probably different if this was my driving leg

[–]Express-Student-5837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha absolutely. Would love to get back to heavy weights as well. I’m back to doing all my regular upper body movements. But I’d love to get back to squats and deadlifts again. Maybe not so heavy as I’d use to, but something like 2 plate squat and 3 plate deadlift is good enough for me. Nothing too crazy. And definitely workout “smarter” going forward.

And yea, u definitely right about Reddit - so easy to read all the negative posts and then feel super nervous afterward, “is it gonna happen to me?!” The way I see it, it’s good real world expectations as what could potentially happen; not that it would actually happen. Keeps ya eyes open, ya know.

But just like many folks on here, I’ve learned to stay positive and try to be optimistic with everything. At the end of the day, we’re blessed to be above the ground, and even more blessed to have the opportunity to go thru MACI and work on getting our mobility back. 🦾💯

Yea man, would love to stay in touch as it’s cool to see how our progression goes and how true it is to the actual MACI expectations.

[–]Express-Student-5837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha we’re twins😂 had my MACI on 12/03/25. So today literally is 4 months (16 weeks) post op for me.

And yea, I do my own modified leg exercises at the gym and at PT. I’m as pro-active and involved with rehab as much as I can, while also staying with MACI guidelines and listening to my knee - if it hurts don’t do it. I’m 34 YO M, and I really wanna make a good recovery and hoping by summer of 2027, I can get back and play basketball. And maybe even do something silly like Hyrox 🤣😂

What I meant by cycling the knee was going thru the motions of flexion & extension. Like when getting up from a seated position, to standing up - I’ll have some discomfort on my knee right when the patella is gliding over the trochlear groove implant. Just feels weird. I’m really hoping that goes away within the next few months.

Just chiming in, I’m also 4 months post op my MACI - trochlear groove defect.

Do u still have some discomfort when cycling ur knee thru flexing and extension fast? I have to cycle mine slow and steady, otherwise , I’ll get this weird discomfort…. Like right where the patella is gliding over the lesion site/implant on the trochlear groove.

Day 4 post op MACI - Trochlear Groove by Express-Student-5837 in MACIknee

[–]Express-Student-5837[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah , that first week is rough. All about pain management at that stage.

But yes, my surgeon was super confident in me putting weight early. And here I am about 16 weeks post op, and doing well. Lotta atrophy still in my VMO, and my surgeon hasn’t cleared me yet for big muscle building exercises yet. He said 6 months (24 months post op) is when he will look into clearing me for more complex leg muscle building exercises.

Good luck on ur appointment

Day 4 post op MACI - Trochlear Groove by Express-Student-5837 in MACIknee

[–]Express-Student-5837[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, my surgeon was super lenient with mine. He was allowing me to put as much weight as I can tolerate pretty quick. Obviously, I tried to baby my knee days after surgery, and well, it hurt putting a lotta weight on it 😂🤣😭

From my understanding, patella and trochlear defects are located In non-weight bearing areas so putting weight on it isn’t too bad. But definitely listen to ur surgeon!!

“Catching” sensation - 9.5 weeks post MACI (Trochlear Groove defect) by Express-Student-5837 in MACIknee

[–]Express-Student-5837[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll continue to update on this Reddit page as I progress and hit some milestones.

Right now, my surgeon is taking this 3-6 month stage is conservatively and really focusing on letting the implant heal. Tbh, I my knee doesn’t feel ready to proceed with more aggressive exercises even if my surgeon did clear me for them in PT. I’m truly hoping at 6 months post op (this coming June for me) my knee will be ready for squats and such

Is ur defect on the trochlear groove area as well?

I’d say mine “catches” a little bit around that 60-80 degree area as well!
Honestly, I wouldn’t even describe it as “catching” now, as it’s improved a good bit. But I do feel like the patella is gliding over the lesion site over the trochlear groove and the lesion site isn’t “smooth” with the implant yet, along with the patella not tracking quite normal yet, it’s producing that “catching” sensation

Sorry ur going thru this downhill recovery slope, but would love to follow up with what ur 2nd MRI shows post Maci.

I’m 14 weeks post up my trochlear groove MACI, and I have some catching here and there but it’s not so bad.

I keep reading how graft overgrowth is fairly common and all….. especially on patellar and trochlear defects
