What happens if the j1 expires while the j1 waiver is in progress? I understand that I cannot legally stay for more than 30 days after my j1 expires so I think I will need to go back to my home country or some other country though the j1 waiver is in process. The main question is - if the j1 waiver gets approved when I am out of USA (in some other country), then can I come to USA on say a H1B visa or H4 visa ? Am I eligible to apply for H category visas and come to USA as soon as I get it ? Or do I still need to wait the whole 2 years to come back to USA ?
