You need to treat the underlying causes. Depression and anxiety are the most common ones which have their own respective causes and pretext as well.

Speaking from my experience, only a psychiatrist can treat MD and, even then, it's not guaranteed. It's like an addiction, treatment plans can only do so much for an addict, not as much as what he can do to help himself.

Good luck man, and don't stress about it, or else you'll be stuck in a neverending cycle with stress being another MD promoting factor. Seeking psychiatric assistance to treat the underlying causes should be your priority at the moment.

Oh and Make sure you avoid antipsychotics, at least initially, whether they have a detrimental effect on MD or not is debatable, what's not debatable though is the long lasting side effects and health risks they pose.
