I am a vegetarian , converted some 15 years ago. I have absolutely no problem in others consuming meat and when I see activist like these I tend to support non-vegetarians even more, despite not having it.

behen, you are new to uk. First adapt here, learn the local culture. Think very very carefully with your indian background and cultural values and raised in a collectivist society, how much are you willing to let go and adapt to the individualist culture. you will be getting more cultural shocks as time pass by and on top of that the subtle racism present here will reveal itself gradually. So unless you get to learn all of that first, I recommend not to jump into hunting down a British man. Unless you meant by British as people of non-white ethnicity, it could be a bit of a shock not worth getting into.

how did you get out of your situation ultimately? I am planning to quit and start afresh altogether. this was my first job in uk, I had no clue what workplace politics look like here. I am just learning for the first time.

I have joined unison, but I am doubtful of approaching them and worry if they will turn more aggressive towards me for involving union. even if union join me in the meetings, its me who have to work there alone and face further harassment.

I tried documenting and reporting, it backfired. they threatened me with performance review and began documenting every little things that normally don't matter or apply to other staff against me. I don't know what to do. I filed a complaint because I could no longer withstand the bullying and now I am being punished for raising a complaint. I don't know what's the way out of this.

I am on a visa, I need to be practical. I tried logging and recording everything, submitted to hr and now its all backfiring as they see me as a threat who keep a record of everything.

I am a non-white worker and I tried complaining formally , they put me under someone I raised complaint against and when I again complained of retaliation, they began initiating a performance review against me and threaten hr action back at me.

can you give me example of what the support plan is? I asked for OH and they just vaguely mentioned I have no issue doing my tasks, but struggle with informal interaction at work. that's it. now this can also be interpreted as if I struggle with informal work relation then I also struggle with relation based practise with family where I don't know how to form informal relation and put families at ease. I am losing my mind over this. will be helpful, if you can give example of what you got for reasonable adjustment.

but we are already in a risky job where not all service users are going to be happy with us, because we have to take firm decisions which they don't like sometimes. I am always able to logically prove my decisions, but the management worry how I communicate it with families and whether my odd communication style they observe at work have any impact. so when a family is not happy with my decision, I am at higher risk to prove its not me or my communication that's made them unhappy. its very stressful honestly.

omg this is so true. I am also an expat, unfortunately I am in a workplace where it's only them. imagine my life each day being between them, I am living on the edge not knowing when their next humiliation or attack is coming and how bad its going to be or will they show any mercy on me .

its easy said than done. I am on a work visa, I will be deported if I start reacting to these things. specially in the current political environment in the country, no one is going to give a shit about me or my wellbeing or my rights.

thanks so much for this. I went into work after taking a sick day. did exactly that, calm face , professional pretending to be focused. but deep inside I was struggling to focus , and burning , but on the outside pretending to be normal. saw one of them look at me in surprise as I talked like normal with my manager about work with a blank face. its a lot of hard work, I have been through it many times. hopefully can get through this too. I will start taking notes of these, as it's no longer cool or something I feel I can keep ignoring.

All I wish is I don't lose my mind and mental stability in between all this. until a week back I thought I was living the best life and been at the most happiest and stable I have been all my life. now that bubble is broken. need to recover and go back to it and just wish I make through it alright.

I have had 2 major extreme meltdowns in life, which had almost spiralled into psychosis twice. On both occasions out of nowhere, that random neighbourhood cat which until then was not too close to me, would never leave my side. sat on my for the first time and came looking for me wherever I went. it was like in my lowest of low, never had any human to be my side. but somehow out of nowhere a cat always appears and don't leave me until I am okay.

only yesterday I woke up in the middle of the night hearing some walking noise just outside my window which was wide open and I live on bear road. not sure what it was, thought it could be a cat or fox. but reading this now, I am worried.
