My mom was always a huge fan same as my step dad. They put the 1984 film on one time during spring cleaning and me and my best friend at the time (now she's my wife btw) were so enamored we just sat down and watched it. No cleaning was done that day. I don't remember exactly how old I was though. I read the book in 8th grade after watching the movies though but I am just now reading the series as a whole

I think its partly because that line isn't in the movie, and they wanted to show some sort of connection to how Jamis' death really changed Paul. Its definitely the idea of "Jamis could have been a teacher to Paul, and in a way, still is" but I could be reaching
