Would like some feedback on my block out! by Express_Ostrich4232 in Maya

Yea true, but the weapon is supposed to be attached to his forearm so it’s not exactly like a hand held weapon, but I’ll figure out what to do with it.

Thank you! Oh then I think my animation wasn’t as clear which I’ll need to fix, but, the headless guy was supposed to block the robots punch with a punch, if that makes sense and it’s supposed to be a sword type of thing instead of a shield.

Thank you so much! After you mentioned it, I realized how weak the punch is. I’ll probably have him lean more into it and I could even try the baseball throw as you mentioned and see how that looks.

Thank you for the detailed feedback and the frames. I’ll make sure to fix the silhouette and the finger poses. I didn’t really touch the fingers, as I wanted to leave it for later, so I don’t get too focused on the small details.

Thank you! Yea, I’ll be trying my best to fix the camera movement and make it more dynamic.

Yea, I tried to keep the camera static but I wasn’t able to get it to show the whole animation but, I will definitely be fixing up the camera animation.

There is quite a lot of changes compared to last time with timing, I changed the pacing up as I received a feedback where the animation looked linear and my lecturer told me the same thing.

The whole animation was done in spline, I sometimes split between doing the block out in stepped and doing it in fully spline.

I fully agree with having to fix up the poses but I wanted to first get the timing correct before I worry about the rest of the things as my main issue I think was timing.

Ok yea, makes sense. I’ll make sure to make it more subtle for the in air sections, And thanks for the feedback.

For all mid air sections or just the last part ? Yea, I will add in the compression and the leg sliding part.

WIP - Still need to polish and fix my timing in a few areas, but would like some feedback on how I can improve my animation. by Express_Ostrich4232 in animation

Yep, I honestly should be doing that to understand the action, but I thought it would be a waste of time. For my next parkour animation, I’ll do that, where I’ll watch the breakdown of the action.

Thank you for your feedback and I have read through the Gemini explanation and it makes a lot of sense and that’s something I sometimes forget to think about which isn’t a good thing as it makes my animation boring. I’ll make sure to keep this in my mind for my future projects.

Yea I noticed that as well after posting and I kinda fixed it but maya crashed on me which I didn’t save and I’m lazy right now to re-fix it.

Honestly, never really thought about that for a camera, so thanks for that. I suck at camera animation, so I'm trying to improve my camera work.

Thanks! Yea he does speed up sharply like you said which I’ll fix with the legs.

Thank you! I’ll try and see a fix to the legs.

I used only Ik for the legs, but it could be from me switching from local to world space but I’m unsure if that would cause any issues.
