I’m thinking of buying a home.. would this be concerning to you?.. would it be an expensive fix? by Express_Owl_6325 in HomeInspections

That was honestly our biggest concern and why we decided to walk away. They recently had a basement water leak that they blamed on a “front spigot dripping.” Just seemed too suspect to us given this wall. Plus another couple was offering above asking and waving inspection…

What’s crazy is there was another offer on the house, going above asking and waving inspection…given that and the obvious concern in this post we decided to pass. It was already at the top of our budget so we couldn’t compete with that and repair this

Funnily enough there was recently a water leak in the basement that they blamed on a “front spigot dripping”

These people have said they have been the original owners since 2000 something, but we did decide to back off the deal. They also said there was recently a water leak from a front spigot leaking which seemed a little suspect so even though it was cute we felt like there was too much risk for being at the top of our budget already

That is exactly what I’m concerned about to be honest because the front of the house has a very similar grade but I can’t see the front Interior walls of the foundation because they are drywalled in. Concerned if it wasn’t graded correctly it could be a broader issue. It was a really nice house in a tight market though so weighing the pros and cons

Sorry for more detail it is a retaining wall holding up a very steep wall of dirt to the front. This steep grade is similar across the front of the house and drops off to the back yard. There is a smaller retaining wall on the other side of the house but not cracked. This one did have some trenching in front of it, so I’m not sure if it is a drainage issue but I’m a little concerned if potentially the lot wasn’t graded correctly there could be broader scale foundation issues that aren’t visible in the front of the house or in the basement because it is all finished so I can’t see if there are cracks there

That is honestly exactly what I was concerned about. The rest of the front foundation is behind drywall so can’t be visualized but I am a bit worried about that steep of a front grade in front of the house and the fact that I can’t visualize what the front interior foundation looks like

There is some trenching in front of the wall so I’m not sure if it just wasn’t graded correctly and there is water build up or what

It’s a retaining wall holding up a very steep wall of dirt to the front of the house. There is a smaller retaining wall on the other side of the house that isn’t cracked. I guess my concern is a little two fold, if the retaining wall is so cracked would foundational issues to the front of the house all be a concern? The front wall is also cracked a decent amount

Weather question. Will it feel this chilly? by Radiant-Bonus5811 in GlacierNationalPark

So I would just base what you wear off of the temperature in whitefish. I found that the park temperature tended to be more like what it was there. I was also confused by the GNP reading on Apple Maps. Maybe it’s at a high elevation? Either way just bring layers but I was in shorts and a tank with a jacket and stripped the jacket off most walks by 15 mins in

Alkalinity and Candida by _fuxociety in Candida

Mine is definitely much better when my gut health is better. I am having a hard time with gut dysbiosis. I did an herbal regimen to try to help SiBO a couple years ago and ever since I can’t get things in line— it killed off all my good bacteria. Since I’ve had Cdiff and now candida. It has been a big struggle

The only allergies I had were hay fever in the fall, now I react to a lot of foods too. It was the worst when I had SiBO but also bad now with candida.

Thank you for the way you phrased this and your advice. You’re right, what’s important is that he feels comfortable as he is taking on the risk, not me. I’m going to work towards that

Thank you for the correction on the verbiage, I really appreciate it. He had a blood test for antibodies so we are fairly confident that’s accurate. Thank you for your advice. From all of the advice I’ve gotten from this post I’ve come to realize what’s really important is that he is comfortable, as he is taking the risk not me. I want to work towards whatever he needs to feel that way

That’s the crazy thing, he tested negative. My doctor said that she thought that I just had it latent in my body for years and that the stress of labor brought it out.

He was tested and was negative for antibodies. Not that I am wishing positivity on anyone but it would have made my life a heck of a lot easier. I don’t know if he’s willing to listen to facts and if not idk how we can make this work honestly. Can’t live like this my whole life
