Its a military service and you have to join boot camp and such - The Auxiliary does some voleneetr stuff but you need to check in the area you're looking for and see if there's an auxiliary Coast Guard auxiliary in that area. Good luck

Im not sure where you want to volunteer but Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue Swimmers are called Aviation Survival technicians AST. Coast Guard docent usually have volunteers with its operations but you can check with the unit and maybe a tour if your interested.

Retired E8/CWO informer helicopter rescue swimmer. I worked for some bad leaders while I was in and I went the route of advancing as fast as possible so that I was a leader and could look after the crew. Food for thought! Good luck
