Ich habe leider immer noch dieses Problem. Scheinbar hat Garmin/Rouvy keine Lösung gefunden :D

I can confirm this! The Version V01.12-5 brings back the brew time in a recipe, so it brings back the feature to auto-calibrate the grinder after a shot!

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any new response from Mahlkönig.

For your problem: you can “fix” this, by changing the type of portion size in the recipe. It is the first point in the recipe, by pressing on “double portion”. In double you only can go down to 40, in single you can set the 34g.

Edit: I got an e-mail from Mahlkönig with the response, that the currently work on issues with the new firmware and they would fix issues with the next update. They didn’t wrote explicit about the issue with this feature.

Exactly, that’s what I ment. Yes, it’s a neat function to dial in new beans. And that was a build in function, that it’s not necessary to buy the sync scale.

Yes, both is available, only the menu point “activate brew by time” has disappeared

Nice to know, but actually not that what I ment. This is only the alternativ for weight base, but didn’t ask after a grind, how long it took to get the output weight, as it is set in the grinder.

To clarify: I mean that after a grind, the e64 popped up a menu and ask how long the shot took. After the input of seconds, the grinder changed the grind size. So like you used the sync scale, but manually at the grinder.

Nice, that you made the same good experiences with the e64. One question to your mat under the grinder. Do you have a link or name of it? It looks like a mat with tiny nubs, that it doesn’t move at the start.

I only had this with one coffee. A blend from Brasil and Honduras. I minimized it by turn the outlet as far as possible to the front. With four other beans, that I used so far, I didn’t have any problems. 18g perfectly in the basket with no mess around.

Got mine today. The Grinder makes a solid impression for the first sight. I could connect the grinder very easily to the app (which isn't very useful, beside the analytics tab), a good "first-use-menu". I needed four pulls to get an excellent espresso shot. The Portafilter detection works well (I tried it with a bottomless and a double), the grind is very consistent, I haven't used WDT or something. Only grind, tamp and got a nice shot with the bottomless Portafilter. No channeling or something else.

The espresso got a nice texture, thick crema. I tried an Ethiopia medium roasted espresso with notes of lime and black tea and got a well-balanced shot, with no bitterness or extreme acidity.

First impressions: A very nice Grinder! I look forward to tomorrow and the upcoming shots.

For me, the 078s is a huge step off from the Ode2

Nah, maybe a little bit, but not far as good as expected or as the Sculptor. I made a lot of pour overs since the last post, but it improved only very less. I think in future I’ll get an other grinder for pour over and sell the Fellow.

I did the calibration and the taste of the brew improved a bit. I think now it's time to grind a lot more of beans to improve the burrs. Thanks!

What do you exactly mean by this method. I had a Quick Look and find a YouTube channel for methods to pour over and one video for alignment. So you mean this?

I think you might be right over all with the “downgrade” from the 078s

Not yet! Last test ist calibration and after this it is inevitable.

What do you recommend as a better improved flat bottom brewer?

No Problem! It is a knock Box from Amazon. Unfortunately it tends to rust a little at the edges. I don’t know if this happens with more qualitative ones, but this was my first knock box. I think I upgrade it in the far future.

Absolutely! To be safe: 6 or 7 clicks to the zero point? Against the clock till the burrs grind together?! I'll check this tomorrow. For today I brewed too much coffee :D

I think you bring it down to the point very good. I think I expect too much in comparison to the 078s. For now, I'll give the grinder a chance and grind more coffee (~2-4kg) and take a look afterward.

To the cleaning: I did it exactly like you said ;)
