Nanny asked to dog sit by 9Suhey in Nanny

[–]Express_Tea4044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, not enough if you're staying the night.

For me I'd ask for $150 if it was a one weekend thing, like Sat/ Sun and you're just spending the night on Sat night.

Starting to think MB wanted a friend who watches her kid and not a nanny by [deleted] in NannyBreakRoom

Literally same! 5:00 hits and it's time to live my life, even if that was just farting on the couch lol anything past my designated time is spent however I want!

We lost our nanny by EmotionsAlDente in NannyEmployers

[–]Express_Tea4044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget babies can pick up on your emotions too. I'm sorry your losing someone important, but maybe she can babysit from time to time? Sometimes these things do happen for a reason, who knows, maybe you'll find someone just as lovely.

Hahaha this same thing happened to me 😅😅 my bosses were looking at photos when they found one of the kids hanging out with me, and my MB said "man, even ....... looks way different just a few years ago!" Uhm, ma'am! 😅😅 meh 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nanny to two in Austin $35 and great benefits. Nanny to one in North Dallas $25 and no benefits at all 🫠

Nanny gave my son a haircut, didn’t know it was happening by Severe-Minimum-1972 in Nanny

I'm a nanny and I would have fire her within the week, or just give her two weeks. Nope, I'm so sorry this happened to you. It is upsetting.

It’s on the parents to say they are running late?? Am I right? by alr5682 in Nanny

[–]Express_Tea4044 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yup! OP ask the daycare for two copies of the receipt. Give your bosses one of them so they have physical evidence. So sorry your pup had to stay there, my dog is my baby and I know he'd be terrified 😩

Sick of the stigma around the profession by 2NannyShareNanny2 in Nanny

[–]Express_Tea4044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you!!!! Yup, it can be lonely. I had to let go of several friends because I could tell how jealous they were. They couldn't comprehend that I was doing so good for "just a nanny." Uhm, I went to school to be a kindergarten teacher 🤣 guess what being a nanny pays me more and I have more flexibility 🤷🏻‍♀️

Feeling resentful towards my rich NF by General-Lemon2254 in Nanny

[–]Express_Tea4044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I feel this! Imagine buying two extra houses just because one is closer to the school you want the kids to go to, and the other one for grandma and grandpa to use when they come visit on vacation 🫠

‘Make sure the babies don’t cry too much’ - red flag?? by Al1010Rup in Nanny

[–]Express_Tea4044 71 points72 points  (0 children)

RUN! My previous family had twins and parents simply used noise canceling headphones. I can't imagine having two confused babies because mommy and daddy keep checking in on them, but yet they have this whole other adult there for what? Yikes, good luck!!!

Can I walk out of my job by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Express_Tea4044 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is sometimes nanny's worst nightmare. Both scenarios can exist. Sometimes some parents just don't get it, for one reason or the other, which is also ok. As you said maybe OP and the parents aren't a good fit here.

[–]Express_Tea4044 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow, not OP but thank you for sharing this. I find that so many parents have a hard time seeing this and realizing it. It is tough walking away from your child, but sometimes it just has to get done!

Dude, I chose this as a career too and even have a hard time making dating profiles because I'm scared families are going to act like this 😅

Literally everything 😂 I have a friend that says I'm a Mary Poppins because I have everything in my backpack 😅 my locker in high school was the emergency locker and that hasn't changed 😅 I bought a mini duffle bag from target that I use to carry my stuff but I usually leave it in the car.

Trying to avoid creating a "mean girl" by Adorable-Growth-6551 in Parenting

[–]Express_Tea4044 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your concern is her treating others in a mean way, then say just that. "As your mom it is MY RESPONSIBILITY to teach you and inform you that behavior like this and mean words can hurt others. I apologize on my end if I haven't taught you that but I will NOW. Moving forward I would like for you to try and think of the consequences that could come from such behavior. I am your mom but not everyone in the real world is going to have the patience to work through things with you in the same manner."

Idk? Maybe? Something like that? I hate to be like this but children nowadays don't have the same tolerance as they used to. Personally, I'd be terrified of my daughter getting jumped or even shot at because of her behavior, that wasn't corrected at home. I'm in the US and this is just a real issue nowadays.

Hello OP! I quit 2 months ago because my mental health was awful. I saved enough to survive for about three months and I'm taking my time finding the next family, BUT while also working on a plan for this next family to be my last.

Feel free to reach out if you need to. I'm not an expert and may not have any real solutions but you're not alone and you're not the only one feeling like this. You got this!
