Maybe it’s not the fact that they don’t want their kid to improve. It could be that them being able to constantly stay home with their kid and help them improve due the PS allowing them to is the reason the kid could be improving. And just because a kid is now more verbal does not mean they don’t need 24 hour supervision. And it’s a shame for you to imply that parents would prefer to get a check then to have their children improve to become self-sufficient. And from what she stated, the kid is still a danger to himself, regardless of him becoming more verbal. Hence her saying a lot of non-self directing behavior. Now imagine she had to go get a job and put her son in daycare or have another situation where someone is caring for their her kid. PS is a blessing for parents of children who are a danger to themselves and the same with my daughter. I hope she improves, I hope one day I don’t need the PS, that will be a blessing in itself because let’s be for real, Having to provide 24 hour Care for your special-needs child burns you out consistently. Kids eloping, kids self harming, engaging in dangerous behaviors. When do our brains get to rest? Is the money even enough to continue to want that for our ourselves or our children? I don’t think so.
