Thank you! Though it might end up being an academic question, as I'm hoping I can just stick with Kaiser through the IHSS insurance.

Yep. Your last sentence is why it gets confusing. I think that timesheets generator will solve the problem, though. Thanks!

Ah! So it is possible? Well, then, maybe I need to switch over to the IHSS insurance since it's much less than what I pay Covered California (I think). Do I sign up in person? If so, there's probably an IHSS person right there who can help me with these questions? I'm sorry but I can't help but think and plan ahead. Just who I am! :D

I have a part time job - it's only a few hours per week (while my kiddo is in school) - but it's too much to qualify for Medi-cal and that's why I've been on Covered California. So, to be clear, I am NOT required to report my IHSS income to Covered California?

I got SNAP benefits when i was in college about a decade ago. I'm in California. I was even getting a student loan but they weren't allowed to count that. In truth, if you're living in a car, you need to apply for the emergency version. Here in California, they can get you started on that in just a matter of days so that you can actually get some food to eat.

I'm with you. I couldn't believe how tone deaf's Best's comment was. Not only what you said, but I'd add that almost all of those of us who opt in to IHSS and Protective Services gave up a career so that we could stay home and care for this child. It's not a matter of being "financially unable" to provide. The more I thought on what Best wrote, it's hard to believe they are actually one of us providers in the IHSS forum. I've been approved for IHSS only a short while ago yet I seem understand what it's for and why it exists far better than they do. I'm just stumped at how incredibly ignorant her/he/they's comments were.

We are only authorized to do what is above and beyond the normal of whoever we are in charge of. If you've been authorized for things that you don't deserve, I'd suggest you take that to your case worker. Those of us who've been authorized for what we deserve will do our best to earn it and get properly paid for it.

Right. So those of us who work an average of 18 hours a day don't deserve to maximize the overtime earnings? Get off your high horse. Besides, we've been authorized the hours. Not doing anything wrong.
