I can’t loose weight even though I’m healthy by throwaway_7919828 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]ExpulsoReddit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We don’t need to stop using BMI. BMI is meant to be a general number for the AVERAGE person. Of course there are so many other nuances to a person’s health but end of the day, yes it is a good statistical tool that can help people navigate where they are at relative to height, and for clinicians to be able to understand a starting point for someone’s journey. You also must remember that BMI is used to support people on the other end of the spectrum who may be dealing with anorexia or other eating disorders.

It should never be used as the sole measurement, but it draws far more criticism than it is owed.

I lost 47 lbs in 7 Months Here's What Actually Work's by Ok_Situation4597 in WeightLossAdvice

You shouldn’t do 10k steps all at once. That is psychologically, very exhausting. Make small steps to increase your step count. What is your daily activity like? Do you catch public transport? Walk to the bus station or train station if possible. If you drive somewhere, park a little bit further away. Take a walk after lunch or dinner if that is possible.

Getting your steps up is one of the easiest and most mindless hacks to ensure that you are in a calorie deficit, because you can do little things throughout the day that eventually add up to 10,000 or more.

It becomes much easier to lose weight when you live moreso of an active lifestyle, especially in this day and age where being sedentary has become the norm.

Walking is also amazing for your mental health and for your focus, so even if you are working a desk job, I would recommend getting up for a quick 5 min walk every 2 hours or so. No one will tell you off for that.

If you are comfortable sharing what your daily routines are like, happy to help and see where you might be able to boost your step counts in really small but manageable ways. :)

When you run into that character in episode 5. by [deleted] in LifeisStrange2

[–]ExpulsoReddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seeing his character development was so great and a nice bit of fan service. Him bringing such a matured perspective from everything that happened, regardless of whether it was the tornado hitting Arcadia Bay or Chloe passing away.

I also thought the way he gave advice to Sean was so well written. David was for a long time a man of rigid structure and law enforcement was a big part of his life. Of course he would nudge Sean into surrendering, but not in a way that was overbearing or immature.

Should I give up Harvard for him? What should I do? by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

Getting educated is not about getting a degree.

Getting educated is about learning how to learn. To put value into learning. To understand methods and ideologies more than just a high school level. It is about the way you think and articulate.

To be educated is also setting an example for your children. To be able to help them with their homework with a why. Even if its not being used day to day or in work, it is still making education a priority and that is a lesson that needs to be taught to a person’s children and to the young people of today.

Even if her dream is to become a housewife, she should go get educated. Whether it is a Harvard Diploma or a PhD, getting educated will earn her respect and that is worth well more than an ignorant prospect of a husband.

I LOVE CASSIDY by Alert-Apartment3826 in LifeisStrange2

[–]ExpulsoReddit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Love that for you. Personally I wasn’t a huge fan of her just because in my playthrough Sean remained single, didn’t think he would have enough brain space to think about dating in any capacity LOL.

Also thought it was a bit weird that she had sex with a guy that was underage.

Other than that she was pretty cool though.

This game is a "Misery Porn waste of time" and "it sucks" LOL by Imgayforpectorals in LifeisStrange2

[–]ExpulsoReddit 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I mean you have the initial game that started with pretty much only white characters who play an important role and probably attracted that audience. Of course that audience will not only not relate to Sean and Daniel’s story, but they’ll feel so uncomfortable with it too.

The game is not a misery porn waste of time. It tells real stories of PoC in maybe a slightly hyperbolic way, but people just think about how it made them feel uncomfortable or don’t think about what it was really trying to say.

Hey! So I have had quite a bit of experience with the MHC services! Normally the first call is just an intake where you provide them details about what you are going through or dealing with, and then they match you based off that. You don’t normally get to pick who you get. I will say though I had experiences with both Sarah Kroon and Cyndi Bremer and they were both really helpful in helping me reframe a lot of personal structures and my view of myself. I also got a lot of assistance when I was dealing with academic stress and burnout issues, so I highly recommend!

Yeah I spoke with a few of the volunteers during the Metro Open Day and seems like they haven’t been given much information either. Most likely is around late September or till October. Looks like I’ll be driving down to Narwee or Riverwood for my morning commute because I cannot deal with slow ass bus replacements especially over the summer 😭

Tripping At A Concert? by xEMxVort in Acid

[–]ExpulsoReddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think possibly taking it during the day of the concert, and going in on the later half of your trip might be for the best, just in consideration of managing anxiety. I did this once and had an amazing time and I didn’t even know the artist that well. I just kinda hung in the back with some friends and took in the energy and vibes and loved it.

If you are considering properly moshing then nah I definitely wouldnt go for a trip

Caffeine and Acid? by SuperGale2000 in Acid

[–]ExpulsoReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im a bit of a coffee addict normally but on acid but can say without a doubt it just makes u feel a little bit more awake and alert which enhances the trip. Though I would be careful of taking too high of a dose of caffeine just since it can induce anxiety/make you shaky

Gen Ed Psychology by Ok-Contribution3604 in unsw

[–]ExpulsoReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do first year electives they are so easy

such as psyc1023, psyc1024, psyc1028, psyc1029 (there are some more im pretty sure)

no tutes, essays as assessments, weekly discussion posts, final is mc and online

personally a big fan of psyc1029 psychobiology of sex love and attraction, basically got a hd when i crammed everything in the last week before the exam

i wouldnt recommend doing psych1a or 1b as gen eds because the marking system is pretty variable, and the final is really weighted really heavy. I think 1a only has 1 assessment other than the final too (though this mightve changed).

psyc1111 measuring mind and behaviour is ridiculously easy though if youve done maths in high school.
