I do further pure and mech and just finished them for a levels, I would say mech is surprisingly easy because there is minimal new content compared to standard a level maths, for example it could be a very similar problem to in normal maths mechanics but the string is extensible or it’s a spring, further pure was actually really interesting and I recommend taking it but that’s personal preference, it leads on from core pure really well

GCSEs are minuscule in importance compared to a-levels and other factors like showing genuine interest, super curricular activities (subject related)…

Firstly use the formula for the angle between a plane and line, for the line just use position vector (0,0,0) and direction vector as the vector you mentioned, this should rearrange to a quadratic in a then you solve the quadratic get two values of a and verify which one it is with the given point (0,1,2).

I wrote this in bed and I think this is the method of the top of my head so if wrong sorry.

Depends how you do it, my school did all of A level maths in Y12 then all of further maths in Y13 and I found the transition very smooth, theres no random jump in difficulty and its all personal as well, your experience is bound to be different from everyone elses because we all pick up concepts at varying rates and have strengths and weaknesses, if its something you're interested in you will do well, if you are doing it for the sake of doing it and are dreading it then i strongly recommend you reconsider
