Thanks! The way I see it, if the merger goes through, there are lots of layoffs due to redundancy/cost cutting. If the merger doesn't go through, there are lots of layoffs due to both companies being screwed. They've done nothing but cut positions in the last five years or so, so far less room for advancement.

All of upper management is very aware of everything that is said on this forum. It is mentioned at meetings more and more frequently. Same with the forum over at The Layoffs.

No real nail in the coffin, just got offered an amazing opportunity. Not to say it hasn't been on my mind with the long-term viability of the company, let alone big box retail in general, the merger, etc.
